Fiona Shaw

Fiona Shaw began her stage career with the National Theatre, starring as Julia in The Rivals (1983). She went on to appear in As You Like It (1984), Les Liaisons Dangereuses (1985), The Taming of the Shrew (1987), The New Inn (1987), Electra (1988), The Good Person of Sechuan (1989), Hedda Gabler (1991), Machinal (1993), Richard II (1995), The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (1998), Medea (2000), Mother Courage and Her Children (2009), The Waste Land (2010), London Assurance (2010), John Gabriel Borkman (2010–2011), Scenes from an Execution (2012), and The Testament of Mary (2013). She won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress for Machinal (1993), the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding One-Person Show for The Waste Land (1996), and received the United Solo Special Award for The Testament of Mary (2013).

On screen, Shaw appeared in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1984), My Left Foot (1989), Mountains of the Moon (1990), Three Men and a Little Lady (1990), Super Mario Bros. (1993), Undercover Blues (1993), Persuasion (1995), Jane Eyre (1996), The Butcher Boy (1997), The Avengers (1998), and Gormenghast (2000). She is also known for portraying Petunia Dursley in five Harry Potter films and appeared in The Black Dahlia (2006).

Shaw starred as Marnie Stonebrook in the fourth season of True Blood (2011) and as Catherine Greenshaw in Agatha Christie's Marple: Greenshaw's Folly (2013). Beginning in 2018, she portrayed Carolyn Martens in Killing Eve, winning the BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series. She also appeared in Mrs Wilson (2018) and earned a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for her guest role in Fleabag (2019).

More recently, Shaw portrayed Maarva Andor in the Star Wars series Andor, receiving a BAFTA Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. In 2024, she appeared as Rose Aguineau in the fourth season of True Detective and as Angelica Muldoon in the second season of Bad Sisters. She also received an AudioFile Earphones Award in 2022 for narrating The Bullet That Missed, the third novel in Richard Osman's The Thursday Murder Club series.
