Broadway Backwards, the annual Broadway extravaganza celebrating the LGBTQ+ community through the great songs of musical theater, will return to Broadway’s New Amsterdam Theatre on Monday, March 13, 2023.

More than a dozen of Broadway’s best have been added to the lineup performing songs from the musical theater canon through the lens of the LGBTQ+ experience at the in-person homecoming of Broadway Backwards, which is produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and benefits Broadway Cares and New York City’s LGBT Community Center.

Broadway Backwards, a celebration of LGBTQ+ stories told through the great songs of musical theater, returns to Broadway’s New Amsterdam Theatre (214 West 42nd Street, NYC) on Monday, May 23, 2022. A star-studded evening filled with triumph and joy, Broadway Backwards salutes love in all forms through the vitality of live theater.

This Monday, “True Crime Obsessed,” the smash hit podcast will present a historic show at the Hayes Theater, marking the first time in history a podcast has performed live on Broadway.

The virtual edition of Broadway Backwards delivered an emotional and exuberant evening of performances and raised a record $749,555 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center.

Broadway Backwards, the annual event where gender doesn’t matter but love does, is set to make its virtual premiere this Tuesday, March 30, 2021, with special appeals from Chasten Buttigieg, Ariana DeBose, Debra Messing, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Tony Shalhoub and Ben Vereen.

A cavalcade of beloved Broadway, television and film stars have joined the roster of performers for the virtual edition of Broadway Backwards, the show where gender doesn’t matter but love does. The stream premieres at 8 pm Eastern on Tuesday, March 30, 2021.  

This year's streaming event also includes a special opening number featuring Stephanie J. Block, Deborah Cox and Lea Salonga, plus performances and appearances by Matt Bomer, Darren Criss, Ariana DeBose, Robin De Jesús, Cynthia Erivo, Joshua Henry, Cherry Jones, Kelli O'Hara and Jim Parsons.
