BWW Review: Redhouse Arts Centers Opens Season With RENT

The Redhouse Arts Center opens its 2019-2020 season with none other than Jonathan Larson's Tony Award -winning musical RENT under the incredible direction of the Broadway-credited husband and wife team Hunter Foster and Jennifer Cody. Hunter Foster is the Redhouse Arts Center Artistic Director and this production will be hard to beat for the rest of the season thanks to the stellar cast, top-notch musical direction by Abel Searor, breathtaking set design by Carolyn Mraz, impressive choreography by Jennifer Cody, and, of course, the story that changed musical theatre history.
Schoolhouse Theater Presents THE AMISH PROJECT, A Play Of Hope

Schoolhouse Theater is very proud to present The Amish Project, directed by Todd Olson and starring Katherine M. Tanner. Good American citizens who are trying to make sense of the mass shootings that have taken place over the last several years, will be uplifted by Jessica Dickey's play. It focuses on a shooting that occurred in 2006 at the West Nickel Mines School in the Amish Community of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.  The emphasis of the play is on forgiveness and reconciliation in the Amish community's response to the horror of that day.

As Geva opens its 47th season, the organization looks outside of their four walls to focus firmly on education and community engagement and to be the leader in the area for connecting theatre directly and deeply to its constituents. Current programming occupies all available space in Geva's 150-year old historic home. Renovations completed in 2016 included the addition of a hospitality suite, and those rooms now host a full schedule of events for both Geva and, as an additional revenue stream, as rental venue to outside organizations.

The Cherry Artists Collective Announces English-Language Premiere Of THE SHOE

This September 26-October 6, the Cherry kicks off our production season with The Shoe by Québec playwright David Paquet. Paquet is a recipient of the Governor General's Award for Drama and the Prix Michel Tremblay, and The Shoe is his newest play, to be seen for the first time in English at the Cherry. The Shoe uses inventive magical realism to tell the funny and profound story of an unusual young boy named Benoit and the adults who care for him. The French world première won the Best Play and Playwright awards in Vancouver. Press there said the play, like Benoit himself, is 'a Kinder Surprise: you come for the comedy, but stay for the lucid observations.'

Syracuse Stage opens its 2019/2020 season with a world premiere production of Thoughts of a Colored Man, written by Keenan Scott II and directed by Steve H. Broadnax III. It is co-produced with Baltimore Center Stage and two commercial producers, Brian Moreland and Ron Simons, who anticipate moving this new play to New York after the run in Syracuse and Baltimore (beginning October 10). The play is real, raw, and truly captivating; the emotional and powerful stories are conveyed through music, dance, and poetic language.
