After all, Macunaima is, at the same time, an indian and a quilombola who is seen, by force of circumstances, moved to the big city, where everything is different and frightening. He is also a survivor: on returning to his quest, he discovers that he has been decimated. There is no more place for him in the world. Maybe there is no world anymore.
