The 2013 CFDA Fashion Awards took place last night at Alice Tully Hall in New York's iconic Lincoln Center. The annual event recognizes outstanding contributions made to American fashion by individuals from all areas of the industry and related arts. Awards were given for excellence in womenswear, menswear, and accessories in addition to excellence in journalism, creative vision, and lifetime achievement.

Emma Watson's fashion choices always keep me guessing and I love it. Unlike other young starlets, she hasn't gotten stuck in a pattern of dressing in a predictable way so that when she wears something a little bold or more daring, it never comes across like she's trying too hard. From day one Watson has said she loves fashion and she clearly loves to experiement with it all - from feminine to sexy to bold to retro to classic.

SJP, what happened? I am so very very confused by this look I don't even know what to say or where to begin. Never in my wildest dreams did I think SJP would fall under the 'What Was She Thinking' headline. But alas, here we are. The one positive I can make is that I commend her for wearing something a little more subdued for an event celebrating artists and writers, but that's a stretch. This dress, shockingly by Zac Posen, is a little too down-home-on-the-prairie for my taste and the colors are a kind of wash. Maybe it's better in person?

J. Lo strutted her stuff to awaiting fans after her controversial Britain's Got Talent performance in London on Thursday. Many thought her performance was a bit too racey for television. The FCC said that it has “received complaints, which we are currently assessing but not investigating at the moment.”

Jessica Szohr looked like she walked straight out of The Great Gatsby film the other night at the premiere of The Intern. Szohr, wearing Haute Hippie, was full on 1920's flapper from head to toe complete with Chanel pumps. I do love this look on her - it's fresh, it's young, it's fun. I just think it would have been awesome at The Great Gatsby premiere as opposed to a few weeks later.

Rose Byrne was a vision in pale pink at the premiere of The Internship in Los Angeles. I love this soft and delicate dress on her and I was surprised to find out it was designed by Emilio Pucci. I don't usually think of Pucci as designing super feminine and flirty dresses. Bold prints and sexy? Yes. Soft and lacey? No. The silhouette and short hemline is definitely Pucci, but the rest dress reminds me of Miu Miu. That being said, I love it!

In honor of the release of the new season of Arrested Development on Netflex, I thought I would feature the beautiful and talented Portia de Rossi. I love everything about this look she wore to the Los Angeles Confidential Magazine Cover party. For me she nailed it from head to toe effortlessly in a Rokasanda Ilincic blue dress.

Is it me or does Nicole Kidman not look as beautiful as she normally looks here? Nicole! What is going on? And what's so upsetting is that this look had soo much potential but it went wrong in two key areas: the hair and the dress. I cannot believe I don't like a dress designed by Chanel but let me clarify.

Clearly Milla Jovovich has not lost her touch. She knows how to work both a dress and the camera at every opportunity. I love this Armani dress she wore at the Cannes Film Festival. But it's not just the dress I love. It's her confidence and elegance and how she holds herself that really completes the look. But a great dress is always a good place to start.

TV host and fashion stylist Louise Roe is known for her sartorial choices on and off the red carpet. The 2013 amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala red carpet was no exception for Roe who made quite the statement when she arrived on wearing a stunning gown from Randa Salamoun. I am not suprised she commanded the attention of the cameras in the sleeveless sheath with a bold printed pattern. I also love the color combination of red and purple. It's unexpected and very regal.

One of the many perks of being the face of a high end fashion house is that you never have to wonder, 'What am I going to wear?' Marion Cotillard once again looked ravishing in what I can only guess is a custom Christian Dior creation. When Dior dresses Cotillard they always suprise me a little with their playfulness and edge. I know they can do drama and I know they can do glamour, but lately they have been showcasing some chic whimsy without sacrificing elegance.

This Balmain jumpsuit on Miley Cyrus truly has left me speechless. I am so into jumpsuits right now but for clarification, I am not into circus costumes. I don't even know where to begin with this one. Miley Cyrus rocked the red carpet at the Met Gala and even made my best dressed list. But this look is just so wrong and not in a so-wrong-its-right kind of way.

Jessica Biel wore a a very high fashion, concept dress by Marchesa to the Inside Llewyn Davis premiere at the Cannes Festival over the weekend. My first thought of course was she looks beautiful because Jessica Biel is gorgeous and her fashion sense is in a league of its own. But I don't quite know what to make of this ensemble. There is so much I like and so much that leaves me a bit confused - but I think really good fashion will do that.

The hair, the dress, the makeup, the shoes...amazing. I could not love this look Amanda Seyfried rocked more if I tried. In a sea of black and white this season a little red and black is a welcomed change. Its a classic combination but yet Preen made it look new with a dispersing pattern and a zipper down the front. I also love the contrast of the feminine shape with the edgy details.

How fantastic does Anna Faris look after just giving birth to new baby Jack in February? Seriously, what is the magic secret in Hollywood? I just don't get it. I understand it's part of their job to return to their post baby fabulousness, but lately these actresses and models seem to be pulling a rabbit out of a hat. It's been just three months since Faris gave birth and to me, she looks better than ever.

Come rain or come shine, Carey Mulligan was not going to let a little bad weather ruin her night out at the Cannes Film Festival. Mullian was dressed to the nines in Christian Dior to celebrate the premiere of her new film The Great Gatsby. I am so thrilled to see how glamorous she looks because I was honestly a bit disappointed by her New York film premiere look. It didn't have enough oomph. But this dress definitely has oomph and more!

Lea Lea Lea. You burst on the scene a few years ago as a fashion force to be reckoned with. Appearance after appearance you knocked it out of the park. And I have to say I have been really into the more relaxed, effortless but still chic look you've been wearing lately, this feminine Lela Rose dress included. But Lea, please, I beg you: stay away from the self tanner!

Again, Olivia Palermo never ceases to wow me with her sense of style. Palermo was in Madrid to present the new Pikolinos collection, designed and hand-beaded by female members of the Maasai tribe in Kenya. I love how she wore her pair from the collection with an outfit she could also where with pumps or strappy high sandals.
