The new season of the HBO drama premiered on Sunday.
Fans are flocking to The Gilded Age. Deadline reports that season three of the series, which premiered this past Sunday on HBO and Max, saw a rise in viewership from the premieres of the first two seasons. Within its first three days, the premiere episode brought in 2.7 million viewers across platforms, up 27% from season two's 2.1 million and 30% from season one's 2 million.
The Gilded Age is a costume drama known for its heavy use of performers with theater and Broadway backgrounds. In this new season, the stakes continue to grow as Bertha sets her sights on a prize that would elevate the family to unimaginable heights while George risks everything on a gambit that could revolutionize the railroad industry — if it doesn’t ruin him first. Across the street, the Brook household is thrown into chaos as Agnes refuses to accept Ada’s new position as lady of the house. Peggy meets a handsome doctor from Newport whose family is less than enthusiastic about her career. As all of New York hastens toward the future, their ambition may come at the cost of what they truly hold dear.
With fan-favorite actors like Carrie Coon and Christine Baranski leading the series, viewership for season three of The Gilded Age is expected to grow as the season progresses.
