Now Playing Onstage in St. Paul - Week of 3/09/2014 GODSPELL
Lyric Arts Main Street Stage
2/14-3/16/2014
Based on the Gospel According to St. Matthew, and featuring a sparkling score by Stephen Schwartz-the composer and lyricist behind both Pippin and Wicked-Godspell brings the parables of Jesus Christ humanly and hearteningly to life. Godspell premiered off-Broadway in 1972 and is one of the biggest Broadway successes of all time. Drawing from various theatrical traditions, such as clowning, pantomime, charades, acrobatics and vaudeville, Godspell is a groundbreaking and unique reflection on the life of Jesus, with a message of kindness, tolerance and love.

Now Playing Onstage in St. Paul - Week of 3/09/2014 BULLY
SteppingStone Theatre
3/7-3/23/2014
When SteppingStone Theatre decided to create a Young Playwrights program, the questions we asked the participants were "What is Bullying, and Can It Be Stopped?" After more than a year of improvisation, writing and workshops, we are proud to present "Bully." The play was created by six young Twin Cities playwrights aged 15-19, and six more from Action Transport Theatre in Ellesmere Port, England who worked on the same questions. The result is a rich, funny and moving exploration of bullying from the perspective of those closest to it. "Bully" is an experience not to be missed.

Now Playing Onstage in St. Paul - Week of 3/09/2014 LONELY SOLDIERS: WOMEN AT WAR IN IRAQ
History Theatre
3/16-4/6/2014
The stories of soldiers on the front lines of American's most recent wars are unlike any that came before - especially for women in uniform. This provocative and timely play by award-winning author Helen Benedict, is based on interviews with soldiers stationed on the front lines in Iraq; these are the real words of eight battle-tested women warriors recounting their traumatic experiences on battlefield and in the barracks, and their personal journeys toward recovery and justice. Honest, heartfelt, and current, this play opens the door for conversations about war, gender, and the challenges facing the next generation of American soldiers.
