Mercury Theater Chicago Sets Stephen Sondheim Panel After INTO THE WOODS, 2/7

Mercury Theater Chicago and The Hypocrites will feature Stephen Sondheim: The Man and The Music, a post-show talk back discussion on the renowned composer with Dr. Mark E. Lococo, Professor and Director of Theatre at Loyola University Chicago; Dr. Sarah Gabel, Chairperson for the Department of Fine and Performing Arts at Loyola University Chicago; and Director Geoff Button, following the 8:00 p.m. performance of INTO THE WOODS on Friday, February 7 at the Mercury Theater Chicago, 3745 N. Southport Ave. With music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and the book by James Lapine, The Hypocrites bring their heightened and playful sense of theatricality to the musical INTO THE WOODS through March 30. White Cherry Entertainment Renewed as Tony Awards Production Team Through 2016

Tony Award Productions, a joint venture of The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing, announced today that White Cherry Entertainment will serve as the production team for the annual theater awards for three more years. Glenn Weiss and the directing team of the 67th Annual Tony Awards, have been nominated with a Directors Guild Award in the category of Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Variety/Talk/News/Sports-Specials. This is Mr. Weiss' 10th DGA Award nomination. He won the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Musical Variety in 2007, 2010, 2011 and 2012 for the 61st, 64th, 65th and 66th Annual Tony Awards. He was previously nominated in this category in 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006 and 2008, all for the 55th, 56th, 59th, 60th, 62nd-Annual Tony Awards. (more...)

Goodspeed Musicals' 45-Year Executive Director Michael Price to Retire in 2014

Goodspeed Musicals' Board of Trustees announced today that a change in leadership will occur at the theatre after the 2014 season. Michael Price, who has led the organization for 45 years, has decided to retire from the position of Executive Director at the end of 2014 but will remain active with Goodspeed in advisory and fundraising roles through 2016. SITI's Executive Director Megan Wanlass to Step Down After 19 Years

SITI Company's Board of Directors announces that Executive Director Megan Wanlass will step down from the Company following 19 years of transformational service. Wanlass joined SITI as Stage Manager in 1995, eventually becoming Managing Director and then Executive Director in 2000. During her tenure, SITI grew into a fiscally stable and internationally renowned theater ensemble. Wanlass helped to create over 35 productions, which premiered in or toured to 88 cities, 32 states and 19 countries. Most recently, she played a significant role in the successful launch of SITI's new year-round Conservatory. Wanlass and her family are relocating to the Los Angeles area where she will serve as Managing Director for Cornerstone Theater Company. (more...)

Boston Court Receives NEA Art Works Grant

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Acting Chairman Joan Shigekawa announced today that The Theatre @ Boston Court is one of 895 nonprofit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant.
