Theatre Classes Now Enrolling at Dreamcatcher Rep

HVSF's 2015 Season to Include THE WINTER'S TALE, AN ILLIAD & More

As the 2014 season draws to an end, Davis McCallum, Artistic Director of the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival (HVSF) gave friends and fans something to look forward to when he announced the 2015 season at a special Sneak Peak event on Saturday evening. Noting that the pieces that he has chosen share in the deep belief in the magic of storytelling, McCallum announced that the 2015 productions will be The Winter's Tale, A Midsummer Night's Dream, An Iliad by Lisa Peterson and Dennis O'Hare, and a fourth, soon to be revealed production. 'Each of these pieces aims to transport the audience with the simplest and most powerful of theatrical means - language, wit, movement, commitment, and passion,' he told the assembled crowd. BWW Profile: Frances Conroy Emmy-Nominated Star of Stage and Screen

After studying at Juillard (accompanied by colleagues such as Robin Williams and Kelsey Grammer), Conroy performed with both regional and touring companies in the 1970s. She spent time with the New York-based, critically acclaimed Acting Company, which has harbored the acting talents of Patti LuPone, Kevin Kline, Rainn Wilson, and many more. Conroy then took to the Off-Broadway stage as Desmonda in Shakespeare's 'Othello', appearing with Richard Dreyfuss and Raul Julia. (more...)

A Tony nominee for Best Play, Time Stands Still is a witty, intelligent examination of the power of war against the backdrop of the homefront. Sarah and James, a photographer and a journalist, share a passion for the adrenaline rush that comes from reporting stories in the world's deadliest war zones. When the realities of combat become too much for James, a rift begins to form between them. After Sarah is wounded in a bomb blast in Iraq, she is forced to return home to James and the safety, and comparative boredom, of New York. Her struggle to adapt to life in the States is contrasted with the life of her mentor, Richard, who is happily embarking on a more conventional path with a much younger woman. (more...)
