Actors' Shakespeare Project (ASP) begins the New Year with Shakespeare's Measure for Measure where sex, power, and justice collide in a city on the edge. The award-winning itinerant company returns to a familiar home at the Multicultural Arts Center, 41 Second Street, Cambridge January 7 through February 1, 2015. Performances are Wed. (1st preview only)-Fri., 7:30pm; Sat., 3pm (not opening Sat.) & 8pm; Sun., 2pm. Student matinees are at 10am on January 14, 15, 21, 22, 28 & 29. The Flea Theater is proud to announce yet another extension of Kim Davies' World Premiere Smoke, directed by Flea Resident Director Tom Costello (The Wundelsteipen (and other difficult roles for young people)) and featuring members of The Bats, the resident acting company at The Flea. Says Producing Director Carol Ostrow, "where 50 Shades of Grey dances on the surface of BDSM, Smoke cuts to the core." For parents looking for a fun and exciting activities for children, Barter Theatre is pleased to announce that registration is open for Barter Youth Academy's (BYA) 2015 spring theatre workshops. The deadline to register is fast approaching. Those registering before December 31 will receive a 15% early registration discount. During the past two years, Barter Youth Academy has grown from 89 students in Abingdon, more than 300 enrolled students throughout the region. Students ages 5-18, with all abilities and experience levels are welcome, and scholarships are available. Campuses are now located in Abingdon, Va., and Bristol, Kingsport and Mountain City in Tennessee. (more...)

Children's Theatre Company has announced that Alanna Saunders, who plays Tiger Lily in NBC's Peter Pan Live, will play Wendy in this spring's Peter Pan the Musical. Joining her will be 2014 Ivey Award-winner for Emerging Artist Tyler Michaels in the title role. Audience favorite Reed Sigmund, now in his 15th season as a CTC Acting Company member, brings his signature style to the loathsome, tortured Captain Hook. Peter Pan the Musical runs April 21 through June 21, 2015 on the UnitedHealth Group Stage and is directed by Peter Rothstein. (more...)
