BWW Review: A Clevelander's View of the Stratford Theater Festival - A Season of Being Pushed to the EdgeBWW Review: A Clevelander's View of the Stratford Theater Festival - A Season of Being Pushed to the Edge
by Roy Berko (Cleveland)

(7/30/2014) - The Stratford Festival of Canada, whose present artistic director is Atoni Cimolino, started on July 13, 1953, when Sir Alec Guiness walked onto a stage located in a large tent and spoke the first lines of what has become the internationally-recognized celebration of theatre. Now housed in five theatres, offering plays and other entertainment from late April to November, Stratford is the largest repertoire theatre in North America. The offerings are not only the writings of Shakespeare, but a variety of classical and contemporary works, including musicals.

BWW Review: Cyrano May Be Ready for the Stage, But CYRANO Is NotBWW Review: Cyrano May Be Ready for the Stage, But CYRANO Is Not
by Jeff Davis (Austin)

(7/30/2014) - I wish I had Cyrano de Bergerac's way with words. If I did, maybe it would be easier to write what I'm about to say here. City Theatre's current production of the Edmond Rostand classic, Cyrano de Bergerac has several of the elements that a show needs to succeed. It has an incomparable lead actor, two amiable supporting leads, and a text beloved by many a theatergoer. Still, due to a lackluster ensemble and odd directing choices, the production fails to gel or leave a positive impression.

by Matt Tamanini

(7/30/2014) - I am all kinds of conflicted coming into tonight's 'So You Think You Can Dance.' At the end of this week's episode, we have to lose four dancers to get to the Top-10. Now, I am all for getting straight to the Top-10 partnering with the All-Stars, but the prospect of dropping four is a little scary. At this point in the season, there are still a number of really talented individuals that haven't seemed to catch on yet, and I'm afraid with four cuts that someone really good is going to go home tonight. So, we shall see.
