Touchstone Theatre Receives R.K. Laros Foundation Matching Grant
(7/23/2015) - The South Side's Touchstone Theatre celebrates the coming of their 35th anniversary season with the fulfillment of a $15,000 matching challenge grant from the R.K. Laros Foundation. The match was pledged in June 2014 and was successfully completed last month. The grant and matching funds will be used to replace the theatre's 25-year-old seating in the fall of 2015.
EPAC Stages LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, Now thru 8/8
(7/23/2015) - La Cage Aux Folles stormed the Broadway stage in 1983, grabbing nine Tony Award nominations and six wins, including Best Musical, Best Score, and Best Book. Based on Jean Poiret's 1973 French play, La Cage Aux Folles was first brought to the big screen in 1978 and then the 1996 American film The Birdcage starring Robin Williams, Nathan Lane, and Gene Hackman. Ephrata Performing Arts Center will present this French-adapted classic at EPAC's Sharadan Bigler Theatre. The production opens tonight, July 23, 2015, and runs through August 8, 2015.
Theater with a View Brings CIRCLE MIRROR TRANSFORMATION to Sycamore Hill Tonight
(7/23/2015) - Theater with a View is bringing a production of Circle Mirror Transformation by Annie Baker to Pottstown, PA. The play will open tonight, July 23 for an eight-performance run outdoors at Sycamore Hill, the home of Drs. Veronica Covalesky and Nick Leasure, at 481 Ebelhare Road. Directed by Seth Reich, the production features a cast of New York actors.
RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER Musical Coming to Hershey
(7/22/2015) - In 1964, the beloved stop-motion animated television classic, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, made its network television debut delighting audiences across the country. The longest running and highest rated television special comes to life, live on stage with Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical, featuring the world's most famous reindeer and a holly jolly cast of iconic characters. Rudolph and friends, including Hermey the Elf, Yukon Cornelius and the Abominable Snow Monster, help Santa save Christmas during a tour this holiday season. They will take the stage at Hershey Theatre on Tuesday, December 8 and Wednesday, December 9. Both shows are at 7:00 p.m.
