This Sunday: The challenges President Obama faces at home and abroad as he prepares for his second term. After a bruising and partisan election, will Washington succeed in reaching an agreement to avert the ‘fiscal cliff’? Will the Obama administration be able to calm the crisis in the Middle East? And as lawmakers continue to press for more details, what fallout will the president face from the Benghazi attacks and the Petraeus affair? Joining our special conversation: MSNBC’s Rev. Al Sharpton, Vice Chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee Carly Fiorina, New York Times columnist David Brooks, documentary filmmaker and historian Ken Burns, and NBC’s Andrea Mitchell.
Also on Sunday: A pivotal time for Congress. The clock ticks as the country approaches the fiscal cliff and mandatory spending cuts in areas such as defense loom large if Washington can't make a deal. Plus, lawmakers continue their probe into the Sept. 11th attack in Libya. And a large portion of the Northeast is still dealing with the Sandy recovery effort through the holiday -- all of this before the president officially begins his second term. What should we expect from Capitol Hill in the weeks and months ahead? We'll check in with the Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI), Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-NY), and Chair of the House Homeland Security Committee, Rep. Peter King (R-NY).
We’ll also get insight on the economic challenges ahead for the country, with Honeywell CEO David Cote, who was part of a group of business leaders that met with President Obama last week.
