has revealed a first look at Sean Hayes
' guest starring appearance on the NBC comedy UP ALL NIGHT. The actor will portray 'Walter', described as "a passive-aggressive nemesis to Maya Rudolph
's Ava." Walter will have a featured "naughty duet" with Ava in the episode. Get a first look below!
Hayes told TV Guide, "My character, Walter, used to be Ava's musical accompanist. When Ava got the talk show that catapulted her to stardom, I assumed she would bring me along. When that didn't happen, Walter built up years of resentment." He continues, "We run into each other at a children's party and rekindle a friendship. It doesn't come out until later how angry I am."
Hayes is also set to guest star in a three-episode story arc on NBC's 'Smash." He will portray Terrence Falls, described as "a diva who is cast in the new production, "Liaisons." Says Hayes, "My character comes in and isn't happy with anything. He tries to change the direction of the show." The actor also reveals that there will not be a reunion with Will & Grace co-star on the upcoming Smash season. "As far as I was told," says Hayes, "we have no scenes [together]."
The actor is best known as Jack on “Will & Grace.” His portrayal garnered him an Emmy Award (along with six nominations), four Screen Actors Guild Awards, and received seven Golden Globe nominations. Hayes’ other notable television projects include well received guest roles on “Scrubs,” “30 Rock” and “Parks and Recreation,” as well as “Martin & Lewis” a television film that starred Sean as Jerry Lewis
for which he earned a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination.
In 2011, Hayes received a Tony nomination for Best Actor in a Musical after making his Broadway debut, in the wildly successful “Promises, Promises” alongside Kristin Chenoweth. That same year, he won an Emmy Award for hosting the Tony Awards. Previously, Hayes was seen on stage in New York in the New York City Center production of “Damn Yankees” with Jane Krakowski and Cheyenne Jackson.
