Photo Flash: First Look - Cynthia Nixon Debuts in Recurring Role on NBC's HANNIBAL
Cynthia Nixon will appear in the first three episodes of the second season of NBC's Hannibal as FBI investigator Kade Purnell. The Season 2 premiere airs Friday, February 28th at 10 pm/ET on NBC. Get a first look below!
In the premiere episode, Will (Hugh Dancy) is determined to fight for his innocence as Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen) and Jack (Laurence Fishburne) try to wrap their heads around the fact he's behind bars. Meanwhile, Alana (Caroline Dhavernas) faces a strained relationship with Will while Kade Purnell (Nixon) with the FBI pays him a visit.Also starring Hettienne Park, Aaron Abrams, Scott Thompson and Gillian Anderson.
Nixon is currently working on the film A Quiet Passion. Her recent TV credits -- beyond her longtime portrayal of 'Miranda Hobbes' on Sex and the City -- include the miniseries World Without End, 30 Rock and The Big C.
A noted stage performer, Nixon has appeared on Broadway in Wit, for which she was nominated for a 2012 Tony, Rabbit Hole, for which she won the 2006 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Play, Children And Art, The Women, The Last Night of Ballyhoo, Indiscretions, for which she earned a Tony nomination in 1996, Angels in America: Perestroika and Angels in America: Millennium Approaches, The Heidi Chronicles, Hurlyburly, The Real Thing and The Philadelphia Story, as well as many off-Broadway theatre productions.
The dark and haunting series "Hannibal" returns for a second season, with more shocking revelations and games of psychological cat and mouse. Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) is locked in a mental asylum accused of Hannibal Lecter's crimes (Mads Mikkelsen). Now that Will sees Hannibal for what he truly is, he faces a fight to prove his own sanity and convince those closest to him he is innocent of murder. Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) is dealing with his own feelings about Will, and whether his protégé is in fact a cold-blooded killer. Looking for answers, Jack turns to Hannibal, a man he has come to trust. With Will locked up, Hannibal becomes Jack's new consultant on cases. Hannibal is torn between self-preservation and his desire to keep Will close to him, despite advice from his psychiatrist, Bedelia Du Maurier (Gillian Anderson), to stay away.
