Hot on the heels of winning a Grand Prize in last year's John Lennon Songwriting Contest, North Carolina's favorite power pop band for kids, Big Bang Boom, makes a rare Delaware appearance with a rocking family show at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 18 at World Café Live at the Queen, 500 N. Market St., Wilmington. This performance is part of World Café Live's Peanut Butter & Jams series.

Big Bang Boom is so thrilled to be coming to Wilmington, they're celebrating with a free "Hippie Mom" song download, available from now throughJanuary 18, HERE.

As children of the '70s and '80s, with influences ranging from KISS to Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, and U2, Big Bang Boom is all about what makes pop popular. Their songs mix alt-rock, hip-hop, punk and country, and have "on message" lyrics that Parenting Magazine praised as "primed for the sandbox set." Check out their "Hippie Mom" video, HERE.

A Big Bang Boom show is a party -- a high impact, high energy, high volume, take-no-prisoners, "you WILL be involved" performance that gets kids (and their parental units) up and moving.

For their World Café Live show, Big Bang Boom will play an array of super-charged, Big Bang Boom-ified takes on classic tunes, including an everyone's-in-the-band-singing-the-chorus version of "Spongebob Squarepants," a follow-the-leader style "The Ants Go Marching" (with Big Bang Boom bass player Chuck Folds leading the line), and, as a grand finale, a kids vs. parents contest, in the form of Big Bang Boom's famous "Great 'Hokey Pokey' Showdown."

Comprised of three devoted dads who just happen to be seasoned professional musicians, Big Bang Boom is known for laying down solid, hard-rockin', parent-friendly music that has made them the most in-demand kids'/family act to come out of their region.

After twenty years spent touring clubs and playing for "grown up" parties, Chuck Folds, Steve Williard, and Eddie Walker decided in 2007 to expand their horizons and focus on family entertainment. As Big Bang Boom, they have released three CDs of original music and played the prestigious Kidzapalooza stage at Lollapalooza, the family stage at the Hangout Music Fest, and the family music industry conference Kindiefest, to name just a few.
