She is a founding member of IN THE BASEMENT THEATER Co, an Andrew Carnegie Scholar, a performer and a developing poet. Her work has been published in The Oakland Review and several other literary magazines. Her curiosity pulls her towards as much travel as possible, as she derives her inspiration for choreography in experiencing and observing the traditional dances of different cultures, gesture, and studying the emotional/psychophysical qualities of communication and movement. Glover has been a personal idol of mine as a tap dancer since I was a young girl and fast picking up the art. This, however, was my first opportunity to see him live, and he did not disappoint. Glover tapped along to the band, his feet became a musical instrument of their own- the best musical instrument in the band, in my opinion. His feet created music with a perfectly timed flap, stomp, toe dig, or cramp roll. His infamous speed held true and created a fun, high-energy performance that took the show to the next level. Dances Patrelle, the official ballet company of Ballet Academy East, with its well-trained students and company members ranging in ages 5 to 65, guests stars Jenifer Ringer and Jared Angle (New York City Ballet) and Matthew Dribble (The Royal Ballet) and children from various New York City dance schools presented their 18th annual production of The Yorkville Nutcracker at the Kaye Playhouse, December 5-8. This enchanting holiday treat takes place in New York City locales such as the Crystal Palace at the New York Botanical Gardens, the Central Park skating pond and Gracie Mansion. The December 8th final performance was both a triumphant and sad one, as Ms. Ringer, the glorious Sugar Plum Fairy of this production for 17 years, danced her final performance. Ms. Ringer is also retiring from New York City Ballet this spring. (more...)

With a cast of over 70 talented dancers from Bergen, Hunterdon, Morris, Sussex and Warren Counties, this ballet based on Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite is unique because of the narration by Hadley DeGregoris who tells the story from the perspective of ten-year-old Clara Stahlbaum. I recently had the honor and privilege of taking my six-year-old niece to her first ballet. It was Ballet West's The Nutcracker, a perfect choice for any child excited about the holiday season, ballet, and performing. The story of The Nutcracker dates back to 1816 and was written by E.T.A. Hoffman. Tchaikovsky wrote the score and The Nutcracker first premiered on Sunday, December 18, 1892. Since then, it has grown wildly in popularity and is considered a holiday tradition for many people. (more...)
