The NGV to Offer DROP-BY DRAWING as a Part of Melbourne Now, 1/5-1/26

The NGV will offer the exceptionally popular Drop-by Drawing as part of Melbourne Now. Inviting visitors to grab a sketch pad and pencil in an enormous group drawing class, Melbourne Now artists will hold sessions in the exquisite 18th Century Galleries where visitors will be surrounded by some of the NGV's most treasured and magnificent works such as Giambattista Tiepolo's Banquet of Cleopatra and Nicholas Poussin's The Crossing of the Red Sea.

Drop-by Drawing provides gallery visitors with the opportunity to be inspired by artworks from the NGV's historical collection as they sketch under the guidance of Melbourne Now artists including Minna Gilligan, Moya McKenna, Jess Johnson and Tim Fleming.

Each artist will draw upon their own unique practice to give participants tips on how to enhance their work.

On the final day of the Melbourne Now Children's Festival, Tim Fleming will present a special Drop-by Drawing session in the Grollo Equiset Garden for children and families on Sunday 26 January.

All ages and artistic abilities are welcome at these relaxed sessions and participants can come and go at any time.

Drop-by Drawing will be held at NGV International from 2-4pm on Sunday 5, 12, 19 and 26 January. Meet 18thCentury Galleries, Level 2. Free with all materials provided. Personal grey-lead pencils and sketch pads are welcomed (no larger than A3).
