The story of the legendary Neil Diamond comes to life on stage in an uplifting new musical featuring all his hit songs, including “Sweet Caroline,” “America,” and “Cracklin’ Rosie.” From those exhilarating early days in New York to the sold-out spectacles that defined his career, A Beautiful Noise explores the life of a rock icon through the music that made him “a national treasure” (Los Angeles Times).
Directed by Tony Award® winner Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening, Hedwig and the Angry Inch), choreographed by Olivier Award winner Steven Hoggett (Once, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), and written by four-time Academy Award nominee Anthony McCarten (Bohemian Rhapsody, The Two Popes), A Beautiful Noise is a thrilling look at an artist’s search for himself and a celebration of the enduring power of his music.

Overall, A BEAUTIFUL NOISE—after the lights have dimmed and the last bits of confetti have fallen—comes off as guaranteed musical candy for Neil Diamond devotees—especially in its current form as a polished, tidy, nostalgia-baiting jukebox musical loaded with familiar hits, sprinkles of sparkle, and enough vocal authenticity to make fans of his music swoon. The impressive performances—from the lead vocals to the "Beautiful Noise" ensemble's hypnotic, lyrical dance moves—bring a measurable level of enjoyment. But as a deep-dive drama? It's, well… just fine—and Diamond fans will surely enjoy it as is.

Neil Diamond is especially hot right now on the heels of the recent movie, “Song Sung Blue.” This musical adds fuel to the fire. If he wasn’t battling Parkinson’s right now, Diamond declared that he would be touring until the day he died. His is a long and glorious career, bumps and all. I saw Diamond in concert when I was in high school. For those younger people who maybe are not yet familiar with his catalog of hits, I can guarantee you’ve all sung a few, “So good, So good, So goods!” to “Sweet Caroline” sung by a cover band. It’s a classic. Diamond is a jewel.
