BPA's 7th Annual Summertime Shakespeare performance offers a dramatic summer evening for all ages. Widely considered to be one of Shakespeare's finest comedies, As You Like It offers something for everyone: villainy, romance, humor and a happy ending. This adventurous tale from the Forest of Arden combines the flavor of Robin Hood with romance around every tree. It is a story of disguise and love triangles, and all of the confusion gets sorted out in the end.

Erin Johnson, Interim Artistic Director of Velocity Dance Center has been selected to attend the distinguished National Dance Presenters' Forum at Jacob's Pillow. This four-day dance leadership development intensive is held at Jacob's Pillow's 220-acre site in Western Massachusetts, July 10-13. The second annual Forum, reinstated in July 2018, is developed in collaboration with key partners from across the U.S. and designed to be a catalytic opportunity for early career dance presenters. Erin was selected through a critical and rigorous interview process to join a cohort of 15 early-career dance presenters from around the U.S. Jacob's Pillow is a National Historic Landmark, recipient of the National Medal of Arts, and home to America's longest-running dance festival.

All of Mandi's images are created in-camera, oftentimes using multiple exposures and creative lenses.

Lisa Wolpe, who may have played more of Shakespeare's male roles than any other actress, has outright stated, "I feel like Shakespeare saved my life." After his tour of duty in the army, it was Shakespeare that helped veteran Stephan Wofert cope with PTSD and find his own way in the civilian world. All three artists are a part of Seattle Shakespeare's new performance series that shares personal and unique relationships with Shakespeare.

The 5th Avenue Theatre is currently bustling with nearly 100 high school students from all over Washington State who are hard at work in the rehearsal hall and backstage for Rising Star Project: West Side Story, which will play for three performances only from July 12 - 13, 2019. Rising Star Project, a 5th Avenue Theatre education program that places musical theater in the hands of tomorrow's artists, innovators, and leaders, allows teenagers to develop professional skills by producing and performing a musical on The 5th's mainstage. This year, which marks the seventh Rising Star Project production, students are in the process of remounting The 5th's professional production of West Side Story (May 31 - June 23, 2019), created by an all-student cast and crew, as well as students working in producing, development, marketing, and casting departments, with guidance and mentorship from The 5th's staff. A complete list of participating students is included at the end of this release.

Back in 2015, the Seattle theater scene was abuzz with a brand-new musical premiering at the Seattle Rep from local wunderkind Justin Huertas called 'Lizard Boy'. I even remember seeing a workshop of it in 2013. Since then the Lizard has gone on to perform all over, including San Diego and New York, and Huertas has gone on and produced even more new musicals including an adaptation of 'Howl's Moving Castle' at Book-It (which is coming back again this season) and a new one coming to the Seattle Rep next year, 'Lydia and the Troll'. And now, over at ArtsWest, Huertas has given us another of his signature quirky love stories with the World Premiere of 'The Last World Octopus Wrestling Champion'. And with his new show we can easily see that the promise of greatness abounds, not only with Huertas and this show but within the show as well.

HBO will spotlight the new drama series EUPHORIA by teaming up with THE PHLUID PROJECT, a gender-free retail brand grounded in community and concept, to create pop-up shops in three markets across the country. The retail spaces will be open to the general public for one day only in: San Francisco (78), Seattle (710) and Miami (712). The first 25 guests to visit the pop-up in each city will receive exclusive EUPHORIA x THE PHLUID PROJECT tote bags designed by The Phluid Project's Kristina Keenan. The totes will then be available for purchase with proceeds entirely benefitting THE TREVOR PROJECT, the world's largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ young people. First, they brought us sexy ass dancers and comedy to bust a gut over, then they brought in fabulous singers, recently they added those gorgeous 4K video screens for their backdrops, and now they've brought in some culinary delights with their new chef Monica Seward. So, there's good food, entertainment, and sex. You'll never need to leave, but why would you want to?!
