Today, Luther Burbank Center for the Arts (LBC) announced the first 11 new shows to be added to its 2019 2020 season, continuing its tradition of showcasing a diverse lineup of chart-topping musicians, compelling dance companies, and groundbreaking storytellers. Tickets for all shows go on-sale to LBC members today, Friday, April 5 at 12 p.m., and to the general public on Friday, April 26 at 12 p.m. Tickets are available online at lutherburbankcenter.org, by calling 707-546-3600, or at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts ticket office (50 Mark West Springs Road in Santa Rosa), open Tuesdays through Sundays from noon to 6 p.m.
West Theatre Company Presents BAKERSFIELD MIST

Off Broadway West Theatre Company ("OBW"), a San Francisco non-profit 501(c)(3) theatre company, is celebrating its 12th Theatre Season by producing Stephen Sachs' play, Bakersfield Mist.  Based on actual events, this play questions appraisals of authenticity in art, and by extension, our relationship to one another.  The play premiered in 2011 at the Fountain Theatre in Los Angeles and enjoyed a three-month run (2014) on London's West End, starring Kathleen Turner and Ian McDiarmid.

Left Coast Chamber Ensemble Presents DOROTHEA & ARTEMSIA - Two New Chamber Operas

The Left Coast Chamber Ensemble's (LCCE) 2018-2019 season culminates with Dorothea and Artemisia, a program featuring the world premieres of two original chamber operas, each inspired by the contributions of an extraordinary woman artist. The concert includes From the Field, a micro-opera by Christopher Stark illuminating the work of Depression-era photographer Dorothea Lange, and Artemisia, a dramatic operatic work by Laura Schwendinger based on the life of 17th century Italian painter Artemisia Gentileschi. The performances will be presented at Z Space, located at 450 Florida Street, San Francisco, on Saturday, June 1 at 7:30pm, and Sunday June 2, at 2pm.

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley continues its 2018/19 season with the World Premiere of Hershey Felder: A Paris Love Story, written and performed by piano virtuoso Hershey Felder, who shattered box office records at TheatreWorks with his acclaimed portrayals of Irving Berlin, Beethoven, and Tchaikovsky. Now, Felder captures the life and music of Impressionist composer Claude Debussy, a visionary who proclaimed nature his religion, creating music of ravishing beauty, color, and compassion, from the sweeping "La mer" to the evocative "Prelude a l'apres-midi d'un faune" and the mystical "Clair de lune." Intertwined with Debussy's story, Felder for the first time shares his own deeply personal connection to the City of Light. Luther Burbank Center For The Arts Receives $1 Million Gift From Joan And Mack Schwing

The Luther Burbank Memorial Foundation, the non-profit organization that owns and operates Luther Burbank Center for the Arts (LBC), today announced a $1 million commitment from Joan and Mack Schwing-long-time LBC supporters-for the multi-phase Bridge to the Future renovation project. Their gift completes the $11.5 million needed and is well-timed as the scope of upgrades and improvements nears completion. LBC will recognize this generous donation from the Schwings by renaming the Fireside Room, an intimate 1,525 square foot venue used for small gatherings, the Joan and Mack Schwing Salon.

Neumeier's THE LITTLE MERMAID Returns To SF Ballet, April 19–28

John Neumeier's provocative adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid returns to San Francisco Ballet April 19-28 at SF War Memorial Opera House. American-born Neumeier, who has been the director and chief choreographer of Hamburg Ballet since 1973, uses his own set, costume, and lighting designs for the ballet, which features an original score by Lera Auerbach. Renowned thereminist Carolina Eyck performs with the Grammy Award-winning SF Ballet Orchestra for the run of the production. Created for The Royal Danish Ballet in 2005 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Andersen's birth, The Little Mermaid received its U.S. premiere at San Francisco Ballet in 2010 and was last seen with the Company the following year.
