Parker Posey

Parker Posey studied drama at SUNY Purchase before leaving shortly before graduation after landing an eight-episode role on As the World Turns. She made her film debut in 1993 with Coneheads, Joey Breaker and Dazed and Confused, followed by roles in Amateur, Mixed Nuts, Party Girl, The Doom Generation, Kicking and Screaming and Waiting for Guffman. Her performance in The House of Yes earned her a Sundance acting award, and Time dubbed her the "Queen of the Indies" in 1997. She made her first major studio appearance in You've Got Mail (1998).

In the 2000s, Posey appeared in Best in Show, Scream 3, Josie and the Pussycats, The Sweetest Thing, Personal Velocity: Three Portraits, A Mighty Wind, Blade: Trinity and Superman Returns. She made her Broadway debut in Taller Than a Dwarf (2001) and earned a Golden Globe nomination for Hell on Heels: The Battle of Mary Kay. She also starred in Broken English and The Return of Jezebel James and appeared in The Eye and Spring Breakdown.

During the 2010s, Posey appeared in Price Check, Hemingway & Gellhorn, The Realistic Joneses, Irrational Man, Café Society, Columbus and The Con Is On. She made numerous television appearances, including acclaimed roles in Louie and Lost in Space, for which she received a Saturn Award nomination. Her memoir, You're on an Airplane: A Self-Mythologizing Memoir, was published in 2018.

In the 2020s, Posey starred in The Staircase, Beau Is Afraid, Thelma and Mr. & Mrs. Smith, earning an Emmy nomination for the latter. In 2025, she joined the main cast of The White Lotus' third season and starred in The Parenting.
