David Adjmi’s STEREOPHONIC pulls back the curtain on making a rock album — with all of the minute details, inane band member conversations, and painstaking, spirited artistic conversations that come with it. It centers on an unnamed Fleetwood Mac-esque band in the late 1970s as they record (and deliberate over) their newest album at a studio in California. If diving deep into the minutiae of the recording process excites you, STEREOPHONIC is your ticket. Fans of DAISY JONES AND THE SIX — both the Taylor Jenkins Reid novel and the Amazon miniseries based on it — will love this.

Stereophonic, the 2024 Tony Award-winning Best Play, will make its Connecticut premiere at Waterbury's Palace Theater as part of a U.S. National Tour. 

STEREOPHONIC,  the 2024 Tony Award-winning Best Play, opens its Chicago premiere today at Broadway In Chicago's CIBC Theatre (18 W. Monroe St.) for a two-week limited engagement, running through February 8.

STEREOPHONIC, which is now on stage at the Connor Palace, is a 4-act, 3-hour production, was written by American playwright David Adjmi, with music composed by Will Butler.  

The actors are phenomenal musicians, playing the instruments themselves, and are extraordinary vocalists, with DeJean being particularly jaw dropping.

Vineyard Theatre and The Civilians just celebrated opening night of the world premiere of THE BURNING CAULDRON OF FIERY FIRE. Written by Anne Washburn and directed by Steve Cosson, the co-production now runs through December 7, 2025. Check out photos from inside opening night!

I had the pleasure of seeing the original Broadway production of Stereophonic that ruled the 2023 awards season becoming most Tony Award-nominated play of all time, winner of five. My thoughts then were brilliant concept excellently executed, and this touring production, making its San Francisco debut duplicates the magic of this intimate look into the recording of a studio album.
