HBO Max And Rock The Vote Kick Off 2020 Election Partnership

With less than six weeks remaining until this year’s general election, HBO Max and Rock the Vote are kicking off a new partnership that encourages voters to highlight the issues that have most affected their daily lives, families and communities.

BET Networks, NAACP Image Awards and ABFF Pay Tribute to the African American Community

In back-to-back events, the African American community comes together for a weekend celebrating Black excellence. On February 22, the 51st NAACP Image Awards airing live on BET Networks is the preeminent multicultural awards show from an African American point of view. It celebrates the accomplishments of people of color in the fields of television, music, literature and film and honors individuals or groups who promote social justice through creative endeavors. The next evening, the American Black Film Festival will host its annual awards season gala, ABFF Honors. The ceremony celebrates Black culture by recognizing individuals who have made distinguished contributions to American entertainment. The honorees being celebrated at ABFF Honors have leveraged their career to carve out a space for people of color in Hollywood helping to create a more diverse landscape. ABFF Honors is an opportunity for the industry to acknowledge how far entertainment has come and thank the individuals who have made it their mission to propel the African American community forward.

WALT: A Comedy Show Comes to Union Hall

Comedians Mike Hanford (Comedy Bang Bang), Alex English (The Rundown with Robin Thede), Mary Beth Barone (Comedy Central), Marcela Onyango (Profiled) perform at 'WALT', a comedy show at Union Hall in Brooklyn on Sunday, November 24th, 2019 at 8:00pm.

TOXIC MASCULINITY: The Musical To Feature New Hour Long Version At UCB

TOXIC MASCULINITY: The Musical is set to begin it's extended, hour long version of the show at The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre (Hells Kitchen) on October 9th. TOXIC MASCULINITY: The Musical has been running at UCB since April and the hour long version is coming on the heels of a round of shows out in Los Angeles.

August Date Added For SHREW-ED: A ONE SHREW SHOW at UCB

SHREW-ED: A ONE SHREW SHOW is a live one-woman show created by and starring actor/comedian/writer/director Caitlin Bitzegaio. To save womankind, Bitzegaio must prove to space aliens that media's portrayal of women is unfair through insane, unique, and never heart-warming solo characters that justify the maligned characters' point of view. Shrew-ed: A One Shrew Show is directed by Matt Gehring. The original run of Shrew-ed was extended through July and now an additional performance on August 26 has been added.

Sketch Comedy Series A BLACK LADY SKETCH SHOW Debuts 8/2, Exclusively On HBO

A BLACK LADY SKETCH SHOW, debuting FRIDAY, AUG. 2 (11:00-11:30 p.m. ET/PT), is a narrative series set in a limitless magical reality full of dynamic, hilarious characters and celebrity guests. The show presents sketches performed by a core cast of black women, including creator Robin Thede, Ashley Nicole Black, Gabrielle Dennis and Quinta Brunson. Thede executive produces, writes and stars and Issa Rae (Emmy® and Golden Globe nominee for HBO's “Insecure”) executive produces.

TOXIC MASCULINITY: THE MUSICAL Will Play At Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre

Toxic Masculinity: The Musical starts it's official run at the UCB Theater on April 1st, paired with Musical Improv show Rumpleteaser. The show is written by and starring Douglas Widick (North Coast, Pop Roulette) and Ken McGraw (UCB) and is directed by Caitlin Bitzegaio (The Rundown with Robin Thede, MTV, truTV). Tickets are available on www.ucbtheatre.com for $9.

All New All Star Stand-Up Comedy Comes to Bay Street Theater, Today

Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts is pleased to announce an evening of all new All Star Stand-up Comedy just in time for laughing off the stress of the holidays today, December 7 at 8 pm. Tickets are $30 when purchased in advance and $40 when purchased the day of the event; on sale now at baystreet.org or by calling the Box Office at 631-725-9500. The Box Office is open Tuesday- Saturday 11 am - 5 pm or until showtime.
