BIO

Since graduating from the National Film & Television School in 2008, director Michael Pearce has continued to refine his quietly powerful approach to storytelling with a series of critically acclaimed films and commercials

Nominated for a BAFTA and BIFA for his short film “Rite” in 2011, the film went on to win “Best Short” at Rushes Festival, Message2Man and Almeria Film Festival. As a distinguished writer and director Pearce’s personal and cinematic style when approaching complex stories has earned him a reputation as a truly compelling filmmaker. 2014 saw Michael win the “Best Thriller Short” award at the London Short Film Festival for “Keeping Up with the Joneses” which was also nominated for “Best British Short” by BAFTA.

Edmund Donovan Cast in Apple Thriller ECHO VALLEY

Edmund Donovan, who was recently seen on Broadway in the play Clyde's, has been cast in the upcoming thriller Echo Valley from Apple. Donovan joins a stacked cast that includes Julianne Moore, Sydney Sweeney, Domhnall Gleeson, Kyle MacLachlan, and Fiona Shaw. The film is directed by Michael Pearce, who directed 2017's Beast starring Jessie Buckley and Geraldine James. Brad Ingelsby, of Mare of Easttown, wrote the screenplay.

The UK's leading film critics today announced the nominations for the 39th annual London Critics' Circle Film Awards presented by Dover Street Entertainment. Yorgos Lanthimos' black comedy The Favourite was out front with 10 nominations, including Film, Director, Screenwriter, Actress for Olivia Colman and Supporting Actress for Rachel Weisz. In addition, the film is nominated for British/Irish Film of the Year.
