Michael Harrington

Michael Harrington is a freelance guitar specialist from Ann Arbor, Michigan. Having studied classical and jazz guitar at Eastern Michigan university, he received his bachelor’s in 2016 and wrote a published article on the work of Django Reinhardt as an independent study course during his final year of school. In addition to studying music, he also performed in a variety of musical forms including musical theater- having played shows in most theaters of the southeastern Michigan area, which are but not limited to: The Power Center, Ann Arbor: Spring Awakening (2018), Hair (2022), The Encore Theater, Dexter: (Smokey Joe’s Cafe 21’, Always Patsy Cline 21’) etc.

In addition to theater productions, Michael has his own jazz trio (Michael Harrington Trio), an early traditional jazz duo (Fun On The Frets) and is a sideman for various local talent- playing multiple instruments. Instruments he performs on are: electric guitar, electric slide guitar, baritone guitar, acoustic guitar, twelve-string acoustic guitar, nylon guitar, lap steel, dobro, and pedal steel guitars.

In addition to performing as an instrumentalist, he also is currently musical assistant and guitarist for Northern Stage’s 2022 production of Spring Awakening.
