Review: COME FROM AWAY at The Overture Center Photo Review: COME FROM AWAY at The Overture Center
by Scott Rawson - Nov 18, 2022

What did     These 12 actors have created the most perfect professional ensemble show I have ever seen. There was no stand out star of this show, there were no pro or antagonists. There was only circumstances and stories. Often reviewers say things like, “This is not a show to be missed!’ “Catch it while you can!” and other such things, so I won’t. But I will tell you that you will be missing out on some of the best theater I have seen. So, get your tickets, it’s only “90 minutes without an intermission” and worth every second. This is a show I personally hope to see again and again.

Review: COME FROM AWAY at Broadway San Jose Photo Review: COME FROM AWAY at Broadway San Jose
by Linda Hodges - Jul 18, 2022

What did our critic think of COME FROM AWAY at Broadway San Jose? Broadway San Jose's Come From Away is far and away a show of delight, laughter, pathos and altogether great story-telling. The show - with book, music and lyrics by Irene Sankoff and David Hein - 'tells the true story of 38 planes and almost 7,000 passengers from around the world that were diverted to the small community of Gander, Newfoundland on September 11, 2001, doubling its population in an instant.' Using a documentary theater approach, Sankoff and Hein drew from interviews with the people of Gander and 'the plane people,' as they affectionately came to be called, to craft their loving, hugely funny and deeply touching show.

Review: COME FROM AWAY at San Jose Center For The Perfoming Arts Photo Review: COME FROM AWAY at San Jose Center For The Perfoming Arts
by Steve Murray - Jul 14, 2022

What did our critic think of COME FROM AWAY at San Jose Center For The Perfoming Arts? Without a single showtune you'll be humming long after, this national touring production of Come From Away is moving, triumphant, engaging and endearing. Too bad this stunningly staged run is so surprisingly short. The remarkable assembled cast, each performing multiple roles, bring to life the anxious airline passengers grounded by 9/11 and the townspeople of Gander, Newfoundland who magnanimously come to their aid.

Review: Uplifting COME FROM AWAY Tour Makes Return Trip to OC's Segerstrom Center Photo Review: Uplifting COME FROM AWAY Tour Makes Return Trip to OC's Segerstrom Center
by Michael Quintos - Jun 23, 2022

Endearingly inspirational and beautifully performed, COME FROM AWAY---as experienced in this relaunched post-lockdown tour now playing at Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa through June 26, 2022---certainly proves itself worthy of repeat visits. At its core, the show is a hopeful, positive reminder that unconditional kindness does still exist in our world, even if evidence of such behavior is harder to find these days.
