Ellis Gage Biography

Born June 27th, 1999 in Methuen MA.

In 2010, Ellis alternated the role of James in the original cast of ''James and the Giant Peach'' by Timothy Allen McDonald, Tony winners Benj Pasek, and Justin Paul, under Tony-winning director Graciela Danielle at Goodspeed Musicals. The following year, he played Marty in Michael Kooman and Chris Dimond's musical ''Dani Girl'' in its development under Scott Schwartz's direction at NYC’s Cherry Lane Theatre as one the first real children to play the role. He also played Colin in Jane Staab and Susan Kosoff's musical adaptation of ''The Secret Garden'' which debuted in Boston at Wheelock Family Theatre. From 2011-2012, he played Prince Alexander in "Rumpelstiltskin" by Steve Marzullo at the Workshop Theater in NYC. He won the 2012 IRNE Award in the "Best Performance by a Young Actor" category for his run as Prince Chulalongkorn in ''The King and I'' at North Shore Music Theatre, played John Darling in Tony winner Phyllis Newman’s adaptation of her late husband (Adolph Green)'s "Peter Pan" musical titled "Flying to Neverland" for American Opera Projects, and was seen in workshop casts of Glen Roven's adaptation of Dr. Seuss's ''The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T.” In 2013, he made appearances as "the kid with the big belt" on Seth Rudetsky's Sirius XM radio show ''Seth Speaks'' and appeared in a 4-person revue for the City of New York titled ''Welcome to NYC'' with Tony winner LaChanze and nominee Robert Cuccioli. In his early years, Ellis was also a boy soprano performing and recording new opera by Roven, Tony winner Stephen Schwartz, and more, providing vocals for The Metropolitan Opera's featured contemporary works, and singing roles at Boston Lyric Opera.

In 2017, Ellis played Prince Will in Livi Perrone and Sean Pallatroni's musical "Happily" at NYMF directed by Rachel Klein and was then recruited to sing with the American version of the jazz vocal group "The FlyBoys" of Britain's Got Talent, soon touring New York singing American standards. Subsequently, he was cast in ''Imaginary Boy,'' the developing musical by Daniel Neiden and June Rachelson Ospa for the Tourette Association of America, as Michael; a character based on war veteran/senate advisor Stephen McCall. He played the role to acclaim in developmental presentations and can be heard on the concept album. In 2019, Gage was seen in the ensemble of Ryan McCurdy and Lauren Widner's musical now known as ''The Currents'' at Carriage House Theatre 4 months before Widner's death, and in 2021, he starred as John in the premiere of Danny K.
