David Cale is a British actor, playwright, and musician who has made a name for himself on both sides of the Atlantic. Born in Lancashire, England, Cale began his career as a musician, playing in bands and working as a session musician before making his way to New York City in the early 1980s.
Cale's first major success in the theater came in 1987 with his one-man show "The Redthroats," which he wrote and performed. The show, which was staged at the Public Theater in New York City, was a critical and commercial success, earning Cale an Obie Award for Best New American Play.
Cale continued to write and perform his own work throughout the 1990s, with shows like "Deep in a Dream of You," "Smooch Music," and "A Likely Story" earning him critical acclaim and a devoted following. In addition to his work in the theater, Cale also appeared in a number of films and television shows, including "The Sopranos," "Law & Order," and "The Good Wife."

The show, which was directed by Richard Nelson and featured music by Shaun Davey, premiered at the Belasco Theatre and received rave reviews from critics.
In 2015, Cale returned to Broadway with his one-man show "Harry Clarke," which he wrote and performed.
