ABOUT THE APPRENTICESHIP
In partnership with the Dallas County Juvenile Department and the Volunteer Center of North Texas Truancy Program, TeCo's T-An-T (Teenagers and Theatre) Apprenticeship Program is an innovative
four-month workshop that targets Dallas area youth. Research has shown that students involved in arts education programs academically outperform their non-involved peers. Studying theatre, especially classical text, is an innovative way to teach text interpretation, encourage creative thinking, increase vocabulary, and improve reading skills. The goal is to touch students with the arts in a way that informs the rest of their academic interests and transform their sense of personal potential. Each year, the program culminates with a production during TeCo's mainstage season. Partnerships this year also include students from the the West Dallas Community Center and Services of Hope, Inc.
The 2010 program is made possible by the generosity of our sponsors: City of Dallas, Jr. League of Dallas, George and Fay Young Foundation, Ronald McDonald House Charities, United States Census 2010, and the Oak Cliff Lions Club.
