Bass Performance Hall Welcomes Fred Garbo Inflatable Theatre Co., 12/13

By: Nov. 23, 2010

Performing Arts Fort Worth's first-ever Family Series at the Bass continues with Celebrate the Holidays with Fred Garbo Inflatable Theater Co. at Bass Performance Hall on Monday, December 13, 2010, at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $22 and are on sale NOW!

Championed by The New York Times as "skillful, joyful, buoyant entertainment," the Fred Garbo Inflatable Theater Co. is family-friendly theater troupe that specializes in comedy routines, dancing, juggling and, above all (literally), inflatable props.

Comprised of only two people, the troupe has toured the world, garnering praise from The New York Times, The Washington Times, The Calgary Sun and The Glasgow Herald, the latter of which described the group as, "unique, outrageous, marvelous - the art of pneumatic vaudeville." The ensemble has also appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman.

At the helm of this duo is Fred Garbo, who has been a professional performer for more than three decades. Over the years, he has gone from Sesame Street, in which he played Barkley the Dog, to Broadway, serving as the chief juggler in the Broadway production of Barnum. For the past two decades, he and artist George York have worked together on bringing inflatable props to life on stages around the world.

At Garbo's side is dancer Daielma Santos, who has worked with Garbo for 18 years. Born in Brazil, she graduated from the Royal Academy of Dance of London and has extensive training in dance, choreography, mime and theater.

The Family Series at the Bass is the first-ever Performing Arts Fort Worth series designed specifically for young children and their families. Along with Fred Garbo Inflatable Theater Co., the series includes Corbian the Dinosaur (January 24, 2011); The Spencers Theatre of Illusion (March 7, 2011); and Seussical (March 21, 2011).

All Family Series at the Bass performances begin at 6:30 p.m. and are approximately 60 minutes in length.
