(10/31/2014) - A math-obsessed boy discovers wonders in the stars, a historic brick exerts an ominous influence on a loveable aunt, and two new parents begin to wonder what lies behind their son's improbable stories in The Landing, the new musical by celebrated composer John Kander and presented by the Deep Dish Theater Company. (10/31/2014) - In Ridgetop, South Carolina, 1906, Mirandy is determined to catch Brother Wind. It's the best bet to win the cake walk, but he eludes all the tricks that her friends advise. This adaptation of Patricia McKissack's award-winning book (Caldecott Medal and Coretta Scott King Award for Illustrators) is a cultural celebration that is full of lively song and dance. Mirandy and Brother Wind is the final production in RLT's series, 'Connecting Theatre to 20th Century African American Experiences.' This is an area premiere.

(10/25/2014) - The Process Series at UNC will feature an engaging new work by an acclaimed playwright in November. Commissioned by the Goodman Theater in Chicago, Lauren Yee's King of the Yees will be performed November 6 and 7, 2014, at 8:00pm in Studio 6 of Swain Hall at UNC-Chapel Hill. The performance is free and open to the public with a $5 suggested donation.

(10/21/2014) - As previously reported, Maiden High School in Maiden, North Carolina, recently canceled its upcoming production of ALMOST, MAINE due to controversial content, specifically, a single scene, 'titled The Fell,' in which two male characters realize their feelings for one another. The Maiden High School principal made the decision to cancel the romantic comedy soon after rehearsals began, after receiving complaints from both parents and churches in the area, despite permission slips being signed. Now, Maiden's ALMOST, MAINE has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund that effort. It has already met (and surpassed) its $1,000 goal, with 41 backers, $1,363 donated, and 13 days to go. (10/18/2014) - Eugene O'Neill's Desire Under The Elms opens on Friday and runs through October 26th at Raleigh Little Theatre. The play is a combination of several Greek myths set on a family farm in New England, and premiered on Broadway in 1924. It is RLT's second production of the play and the first in the Triangle since the 2009 Broadway revival, which starred Brian Dennehey.

The show is being performed tonight, Oct. 16 through Sunday, Oct. 19, in Leggett Theatre located in Main Building at 15 East Peace St. The play is directed by Amy White, M.F.A., WPU's Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre and Theatre.
