DPAC Celebrates Record-Breaking Seventh Season
(8/4/2015) - DPAC has just announced key event statistics for the venue's recently completed seventh season. Total attendance hit a new high mark of 448,998 guests, topping DPAC's last record of 421,000 set in the 2011 / 2012 season. The seventh season also set new records with total events (224 events), total sellouts (112 sellout performances) and number of season seat members (15,167) for the signature series, SunTrust Broadway at DPAC.
Liza Minnelli Set to Make Concert Appearance in Cape Fear This Fall
(7/31/2015) - As previously reported, Liza Minnelli appeared in her first concert in more than a year this summer, on Friday, July 24 at 8 p.m. at the IP Casino Resort Spa in Biloxi, Mississippi. Now according to Star News, the living legend is set to perform with the North Carolina Symphony at Cape Fear Community College's Humanities and Fine Arts Center. The special event will take place on October 3.
THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS to Return to Duke Energy Center, 10/2-4
(7/29/2015) - THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS, the provocative and wickedly funny theatrical adaptation of the C.S. Lewis novel about spiritual warfare from a demon's point of view, returns to the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts in Raleigh, October 2-4.
RLT's SPAMALOT to Run 8/28-9/13
(7/28/2015) - Monty Python's SPAMALOT opens Raleigh Little Theatre's 2015/16 season on August 28th and plays through September 13th. It is the first all-local production of the musical in the Triangle. This adaptation of "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" tells the story of King Arthur and his Knights of the Roundtable as they embark on a quest. SPAMALOT is the first musical under the direction of Patrick Torres since he became RLT's Artistic Director in August 2014, and the 2015/16 season is the first he has planned. Patrick states 'from the first time my brother introduced me to "Monty Python and the Holy Grail," I have found almost daily reasons to quote lines from the movie, so directing SPAMALOT has been a great reminder of the power of comedy and the healing power of a good belly laugh."
