Based on the film by Mel Brooks

A New Mel Brooks Musical. Adapted by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan from Brooksí 1968 film of the same name, with lyrics by Brooks and music by Brooks and Glen Kelly. As in the film, the story concerns two theatrical producers who scheme to get rich by overselling interests in a Broadway flop. Complications arise when the show unexpectedly turns out to be successful.



The original production opened on Broadway on April 19, 2001, starring Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick, and ran for 2,502 performances, winning a record-breaking 12 Tony Awards. It spawned a successful London production running for three years, national tours, many productions internationally and a 2005 film version.

Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts held Some Enchanted Evening, the 27th Annual Summer Gala in Sag Harbor on the Long Wharf on July 7, 2018, with Jane Lynch as emcee.  The event benefits Bay Street's educational and theatrical programs. The evening included special performances as well as a silent auction, cocktail party, live auction with celebrity auctioneer Richard Kind, dinner and dancing. And due to future restoration of the Long Wharf, this was the final gala to be held there. (more...)

This beloved musical, set in Austria in 1938, follows novice Maria Rainer who becomes the governess for the von Trapp family, capturing the hearts of the seven children and their father, a widowed naval captain. As the Nazis occupy Austria, the family is forced make decisions which forever change their lives, fleeing their home in pursuit of freedom. Director Milissa Carey, music director William Liberatore, and choreographers Brett and C.J. Brian Capron, Vicky Entwistle, Mollie Melia-Redgrave and Patrick Sullivan are confirmed to join Mark Williams, who plays Doctor Dolittle, in the UK & Ireland Tour of Doctor Dolittle. Brian will play Albert Blossom/Straight Arrow, Vicky will play Polynesia, Mollie Emma Fairfax and Patrick Matthew Mugg. Mark Williams and Brian Capron will play the first ten venues on the tour - Bromley, Salford, Oxford, Wolverhampton, Newcastle, Hull, Aberdeen, Northampton, Nottingham and Sheffield. BWW Review: MAMMA MIA! at The Public Theater of San Antonio

MAMMA MIA has been entertaining audiences around the world since its debut in 1999. It has received award after award for all of its richness in the storyline, the various actors who have been a part of it, the costumers, the set designers, the lighting people, the directors, The Producers and many others who have received accolades for the stunning productions that have popped up all over the world. But, San Antonio recently saw the opening night of this fantastic show at The Public Theater directed by Ken Urso who proved his directing abilities were unmatched. MAMMA MIA'S story is one that uses music to really tell the story and make it come to life. The show was conceived by Judy Craymer and the book was written by Catherine Johnson. With the music by the legendary band ABBA, the show is one that should not be missed. The Public Theater's production of MAMMA MIA is stunning and shows the professionalism of the cast and crew involved. (more...)

Yiddish FIDDLER ON THE ROOF Extends Run

A star-filled concert kicked off the evening, with songs from the most beloved musicals including South Pacific, West Side Story, On The Town, Carousel, and more, written by the hilarious, award-winning playwright Jonathan Tolins (playwright of Buyer and Cellar and Bay Street's hit comedy The Forgotten Woman). Entertainment included Broadway star and East Hampton resident Howard McGillin (Mystery of Edwin Drood, Gigi, Bay Street's My Fair Lady and Grey Gardens) performing 'Some Enchanted Evening' and 'Something's Coming'; German and Australian star Sarah Bowden (Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame, A Chorus Line at the Hollywood Bowl) and Cory Lingner performed 'Whatever Lolo Wants' with special thanks from Mary Callahan and Nicole Fosse from The Verdon Fosse Legacy; choreographer Joshua Bergasse who recreated his Tony nominated staging of 'New York, New York' from On the Town; and Robert Fairchild, former Principal Dancer New York City Ballet and starred in An American in Paris on Broadway performed 'Kansas City'; Phyre Hawkins performed 'Come Rain or Come Shine'; Nick Cearley and Wayne Alan Wilcox performed a medley from Guy and Dolls; Other performers include Bay Street Acting Apprentices Kara Arena, Lewis Elliott, Allison Gray, Meghan LeFlam, Anthony Sims and Phillip Young. Winter Gardens Blackpool to Bring Life Back to the Pavilion Theatre

As the Winter Gardens Blackpool today celebrates its 140th anniversary, plans have been unveiled revealing a partnership between global producers Selladoor Worldwide and operators Blackpool Entertainment Company to bring a fresh lease of creative life to the historic Pavilion Theatre, based within the grade 2* listed venue. During this joint venture, Selladoor Worldwide will lead on programing the space with both produced and received work, whilst Winter Gardens Blackpool will focus on the renovations to save and restore the theatre back to its full former glory for future generations to enjoy.
