Peter Michael Marino's tabletop sci-fi parody PLANET OF THE GRAPES makes its world premiere at the Pleasance Courtyard, following sold-out US previews. The show reimagines the 1968 film Planet of the Apes with puppets and kitchen supplies.

Shakespeare in the Parking Lot will present AS YOU LIKE IT, directed by Hamilton Clancy, reimagining the Forest of Arden as the Lower East Side. Free performances run Thursdays through Saturdays at 145 Stanton Street.

Sacramento Shakespeare Festival will present Shakespeare's TWELFTH NIGHT at the Art Court Theatre on the Sacramento City College campus, marking the company's 60th season with a 1966 Philadelphia-themed production.

What is a pro-shot and how is it different than an adapted film? Pro-shot is an abbreviation for professionally shot, denoting a stage play that was captured in its native habitat: a theatre. In general, a pro-shot seeks to film the exact experience that audience members would have at a live performance of the show, in contrast with a feature film which actually adapts the piece into a new form, including different locations, the removal of theatrical aesthetic, and changes to make the script work as a film as opposed to as a live theatrical show.
