'TIL DEATH DO US PART to be Presented in a Developmental Workshop at San Diego State University

The San Diego State University MFA Musical Theatre Program has launched an innovative two-year development program dedicated to fostering the creation of new musicals. The SDSU MFA New Musical Initiative was conceived with the idea of helping musical theatre writers develop a new work through a two-year process including a reading (fall 2018), a workshop (spring 2019) and a full production (spring 2020). After a competitive submission process, which saw over 120 new scripts and scores, the selection committee chose 'Til Death Do Us Part by Bobby Cronin and Caroline Prugh.

The Old Globe presents the U.S. premiere of Life After, a rapturously beautiful and stirring new musical withbook, music, and lyrics by Britta Johnson, directed by the Globe's own Barry Edelstein, opening Friday, March 29 at 8:00 p.m. Withchoreography by Ann Yee and music supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations by Lynne Shankel, Life After will run March 22 - April 28, 2019 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Preview performances run March 22-28. Life After is produced by special arrangement with Yonge Street Theatricals, Linda Barnett, and Natalie Bartello. Single tickets start at $32.00 and are now on sale. Live High School Poetry Competition Presented By Orange County School Of The Arts

Orange County School of the Arts' (OCSA) Creative Writing Conservatory hosts its sixth annual Orange County Regional Youth Slam Event (OC RYSE), on April 13-14, bringing together aspiring young writers from across Southern California for a dynamic and engaging poetry competition. Student teams compete by performing a dramatic recitation of a classic poem. They also write and perform an original response poem that echoes elements from the classic work. OC RYSE is the only performance poetry competition of its kind in the county and features nearly 50 high school students.

Launch Into The Wonders Of Outer Space During Family Musical Mornings Concert

Pacific Symphony will present an exciting "Family Musical Mornings" event with the "Intergalactic Adventures" concert, exploring outer space and beyond through the music of "Star Wars," "Star Trek," "2001: A Space Odyssey" and excerpts from Holst's legendary suite, "The Planets." NASA footage for this concert has been provided by retired NASA astronaut Steven Ray Swanson. This program was created in consultation with Mr. Swanson and is inspired by his real-life explorations to outer space. Conducted by Pacific Symphony's Associate Conductor and Music Director of Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra, Roger Kalia, the concert features the music of the spheres performed by Pacific Symphony and Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra, with performances at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. at the Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall on April 13.

This classic of American dramatic literature is often taught to theatre students of all ages, and Patio Playhouse is excited to share in that educational tradition.

San Diego Repertory Theatre (San Diego REP) announced today that its all time box office record has been broken by its current production of Hershey Felder, Beethoven. The award-winning piano virtuoso had previously shattered box office records at San Diego REP with his 2017 production of Our Great Tchaikovsky. Felder has consistently broken records throughout his career and now Hershey Felder, Beethoven is the highest overall grossing show in San Diego REP history.
