New FREDDY Website Launches, Reaches Out To Alumni

FRED X: The 10th Annual FREDDY© Awards has launched a new website, designed by community partner Enter.net. The site at www.freddyawards.org includes information on the FREDDY© program, school performance schedules, links to media coverage, a live feed of the official FREDDY© Awards Facebook page and, of course, the countdown to the 2012 FREDDY Awards ceremony on May 24th.

"The Freddy Awards have been a important leader in the Arts Community," comments Justin Corsa, Vice President of Enter.net, "and with the 10 year anniversary it's exciting to see the Freddy's utilizing the latest technology such as a re-developed Web site, social media & mobile apps to engage and interact with their audience."

In addition to the website, the FREDDY© iPhone App has also gotten a make-over in honor of the 10th year. The App, which is free on iTunes, allows the community to follow the FREDDYs on the go by providing performance schedules, news and connections to social media.

Call for Alumni
The State Theatre's FREDDY© Awards are looking for FREDDY© Alumni to take part in FRED X: The 10th Anniversary FREDDY Awards on Thursday, May 24th. Any student alumni who have participated in the FREDDY© Awards program in high school who are interested should visit the Alumni page at http://freddyawards.org/category/alumni and fill out the contact information form. You will be contacted in the spring regarding opportunities.

The FREDDY© Awards program is designed to recognize and reward exceptional accomplishments in the production and performance of musical theatre in local high schools. The 3-hour LIVE broadcast includes a stellar opening number, performances by nominated musicals, actors and actresses, and presentation of the awards in 21 award categories. It also offers numerous Scholarship and Community Award opportunities to participating schools and students.

The 2012 FREDDY© Awards ceremony will be broadcast live on WFMZ, Ch 69 on Thursday, May 24, 2012 beginning at 7 PM.
