Fresh Voices is back! This annual celebration of brand new theatre features original works by Touchstone Theatre apprentices Anne Losq and Zach Kanner, with appearances by company friend Chadd Zivic. Fresh Voices allows the apprentices to create new work, challenging their own assumptions and beliefs about theatre, and pushing the boundaries of innovation. This exciting event will be held on Friday, February 26th and Saturday the 27th at 8pm. Tickets will be available at the door starting at 7pm, on a Pay-What-You-Will basis.

Anne and Zach have been part of Touchstone Theatre as apprentices since September 2009, and have been learning about various aspects of theatre-making: performing in Christmas City Follies X, assisting with Touchstone's community-wide educational programs as well as with technical and administrative tasks. The solo and group works that they will present in Fresh Voices have grown out of their personal vision and what they have learned from the Ensemble.

Anne is creating a puppet for her piece, which will be an exploration of memory and its fleeting nature. For Zach's endeavor, masks, socks, and breakfast cereal are all fair game in an examination of theatre itself. Yet another act lets us see relationships through the tipsy lens of soccer hooliganry. Each short piece will have a specific feel and atmosphere. Since Fresh Voices is all about original creation, the pieces are works-in-progress, currently being rehearsed and workshopped. Anne explains, "We keep on questioning our work, unearthing different storytelling techniques to move and provoke the viewers. The audience plays a key role in Fresh Voices, supporting us by engaging with our work."
