Broadway Sessions celebrated its 6th Annual Black History Month Show on February 17, co-hosted by Ben Cameron & Imari Hardon, in celebration of Black excellence, impact, influence and legacy on Broadway and beyond.

Nothing says 'holiday cheer' like the Broadway Sessions Holiday Show! It was an incredible evening full of performances from Paige Davis, Hannah Cruz, Avionce Hoyles, Kennedy Caughell, Patrick Page, Nathan Lucrezio, Javier Ignacio, Bre Jackson, Joel B New, Imari Hardon, Jessica Hendy, and teen vocal dynamo JJ Jenkins.

A few weeks ago over at Broadway Sessions we were joined by an incredible lineup of artists for our Black History Month Celebration! It was an amazing night full of beautiful moments from everyone involved. Happy Holidays from Broadway Sessions! Our Annual All-Star Holiday Show this past Thursday the 19th was such a joyous occasion. Belting, tapping, singalongs and laughing- oh my! Our All-Star lineup included Paige Davis (Chicago, Trading Spaces), Patrick Page (Hadestown) Jewelle Blackman (Hadestown), Max Chernin (Sunday in The Park), Rhaamell Burke-Missouri (King Kong), Hernando Umana (School of Rock), Nicole Vanessa Ortiz (Smokey Joe's Cafe), Riza Takahashi (Mean Girls), Gianna Yanelli (Mean Girls), Jessica Juanich (Bat Out Of Hell), Imari Hardon (Avenue Q), Robert Mantano (Radio City Christmas Spectacular), Eric Sebek (Radio City Christmas Spectacular), The Honey Taps, Colleen Harris, Michael Kirk Lane, Katryna Marttala, and Anthony Fett. 

This past Thursday at Broadway Sessions was exceptionally a?oeWickeda?? at the 5th Annual Elphaball! We added some Glinda's into the mix this year an had an absolute blast. Our iconic lineup included Eden Espinosa, Saycon Sengbloh, Cassie Okenka, Kristy Cates, and Maddy Trumble with fierce special guests; Ally Ivey, Elizabeth McMonagle, Imari Hardon and Karine Hannah. We had such a blast celebrating the past, present, & future of a show that is so near and dear to us and theatre fans everywhere!

Broadway Sessions bid farewell to Avenue Q recently. Current cast members as well as Q alumni joined together to celebrate the Tony winning musicals 16 year run in NYC. And yes, there was plenty of puppet action! Enjoy these highlights featuring Rick Lyon, Jennifer Barnhart, Ben Durocher, Lisa Helmi Johanson, Maggie Lakis, Erin Quill, Carmen Ruby Floyd, Sharon Wheatley, Joshua Holden, Imari Hardon, Jed Resnick as well as our Rising Star Cassandra Giovinne.

Broadway Sessions recently held its 3rd annual Black History Month celebration. We invited an all star roster of Broadway talent to share songs and stories reflecting the influence, impact and legacy of black artists on Broadway and beyond. HOLY MOLY! This was one of the most incredible nights of music we have enjoyed. Beyond that it was moving, hilarious and profound. We also enjoyed performances from 'Rising Stars' Richard Baskin Jr. and Aneesa Folds. OH, and maybe just an impromptu pre show performance by Tony-winning legend FAITH PRINCE! It was a good night.

The Holiday Stars shown bright this last week as Broadway Sessions presented it's annual All Star Holiday Show! Broadway vets and newcomers alike shared their favorite "holiday" tunes and nearly blew the garland off the tree with the power of their voices. The cold never bothered them anyway! The boldest of the belters braved the storm to come and sing their faces off for our All Open Mic Party. The night was filled with dulcet tones from some of our favorite regulars and some new friends. We even had a few special guests, we'll call the Avenue Q-ties, Jamie Glickman, Lacretta and our very own Imari Hardon. 

Well, we did it! Broadway Sessions recently celebrated it's 10th anniversary with a full blown SUPER SHOW! We invited back some of our favorite performers to recreate some of our favorite musical moments. We also had some incredible new memories made! Our All-Star cast dazzled the SRO room. As you know, February is Black History Month. We here at Broadway Sessions wanted to take a moment to reflect on the massive impact of African American legacy on Broadway and beyond. We rallied an incredible roster of some of Broadway's most fantastic voices to speak and sing on the subject. The result was moving and hilarious and powerful and poignant. And the singing? Well, let's just say y'all aren't ready for this!

It was a New Works Palooza' recently at Broadway Sessions as we welcomed some of NYC's most celebrated writers and composers to share their latest and greatest with us! Well the latest and greatest music deserves some of the greatest voices and we got just that! Writers Laurence O'Keefe (Legally Blonde, Bat Boy, Heathers), Rob Rokicki (The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical, Monster Songs), Nat Zagree, Carner and Gregor, Drew Gasparini, Thomson and Desmon, Nate Bertone and Melissa Modifier, Alexander Sage Oyen and Joe Iconis all presented amazing new music interpreted by vocalists Luca Padovan ( School of Rock), Allie Trimm (13), Emily Schultheis (Wicked), Imari Hardon (Avenue Q), Kate Loprest (Wicked), Janinie DiVIta (If/Then), Marissa Rosen (DIVA) and more. Enjoy these hot new tunes, cause you never know what's gonna be the next big song on Broadway or in your audition book!

Swings are the super heroes of Broadway, plain and simple. This last week at Sessions, we put the spotlight on these magical unicorns of Broadway. You'll be blown away by performances from Dear Evan Hansen's Garrett Long, Book of Mormon's Matthew Marks and Keziah John-Paul, Cats and Newsies alum Aaron J. Albano, Aladdin's Lauryn Ciardullo, Beautiful and Motown's Nicholas Ryan, Miss Saigon's Viveca Chow, Avenue Q's Jed Resnick and Imari Hardon, Anastasia's Kathryn Boswell and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory's Michael Williams. We also enjoyed performances by Rising Stars Mackenzie Messick and Jose Plaza. ENJOY these incredible talents!

Time really does fly, especially when you're having fun. And, let's be honest, we have a lot of fun at Broadway Sessions. So much so that nine years has flown by ever so quickly. And what better way to celebrate nine years of hurt special brand of musical theatre mania than with an "Inappropriate" Anniversary Show. We welcomed back a roster of Broadway Sessions favorites to share wildly inappropriate tunes and memories. The results were memorable, well, for most of our audience at least ;)

We all know that February is Black History Month, but did we all take a moment to reflect and celebrate? Well we did just that, Broadway-style, at Sessions on February 23rd. Not only did we invite a starry roster of Broadway's best and brightest to share music representing the influence, importance and impact of African American legacy on Broadway, but we also paid homage to some Broadway trailblazers like Diahann Carroll, Ben Vereen, "Stokes" and more. We even challenged our audience to "name that African American Tony winner," which of course gave us the opportunity to bask in the glorious voices of Melba Moore, Hinton Battle, Heather Headley, Ted Ross, Jennifer Holiday and many more.
