Ruins, Memory and Desire: a Site-Specific HAMLET Reimagines Shakespeare in São Paulo
by Claudio Erlichman - Feb 23, 2026

Shakespeare’s timeless tragedy finds a bold new setting in this site-specific Brazilian adaptation directed by Rafael Gomes and starring Gabriel Leone. Staged inside the long-abandoned Cine Copan—currently awaiting restoration—the production transforms the crumbling cinema into a monumental performance space, blurring the line between architecture and drama. With the audience seated on the former stage and the action unfolding across the old auditorium, the immersive staging mirrors Hamlet’s own state of suspension and moral collapse. Featuring a multigenerational cast and a striking creative team, this contemporary reimagining reframes themes of power, desire and existential doubt for today’s audiences—turning ruin into revelation.

Previews: SEASON PREVIEW at CAP Theatre
by DC Felton - Feb 23, 2026

During that time, they were starting to dream about what their next season could be. So I was excited to attend their announcement party on January 10 to see what their dream for the next season would be. One of the exciting parts of this announcement is that CAP is celebrating its 20th season at its current location, with its biggest season yet! If the students in attendance respond positively, this will be a fantastic season.
