A troupe of actors is accused of treason for a play staged there; by chance their trial for the capital offense convenes in the same tavern, owned by Bridget Brighton, a young woman of mixed race.

Under the care of celebrated young physician Frederick Treves, Merrick is introduced to London society and slowly evolves from an object of pity to an urbane and witty favorite of the aristocracy and literati, only to be denied his ultimate dream – to become a man like any other.

Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.

Mrs. Lovett's luck sharply shifts when Todd's thirst for blood inspires the integration of an ingredient into her meat pies that has the people of London lining up... and the carnage has only just begun!
