Melbourne Theatre Company's most ambitious production to date, Shakespeare in Love, will have its Australian premiere on Friday 19 July at Arts Centre Melbourne, Playhouse, before going on to play at Canberra Theatre Centre from 22-31 August.

Canadian actor and singer Tim Howar's past work includes Les Miserables, The Who's Tommy, Chess, and the 10th Anniversary production of Rent. He's also in the band Mike + The Mechanics. Currently, he's tackling one of the most iconic roles in musical theatre: playing the Phantom in the West End production.

Broadway's master songman, Mandy Patinkin, accompanied by Adam Ben-David on piano, will bring his newest theatre concert Mandy Patinkin in Concert: DIARIES, to The VETSin Providence for one performances only on Friday, November 1 at 8pm.

The North Charleston Performing Arts Center's Best of Broadway series will host its annual  "Select Your Seat" open house party on Monday, June 3 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Broadway fans are invited to come out and "select their seats" for the 2019-2020 season. The party features Broadway music, complimentary hors d'oeuvres, a wine tasting and backstage tours. Season ticket packages start at just $218.

Casting has been revealed for the recent London workshop of Andrew Lloyd Webber's modern musical remake of Cinderella.

An unforgettable evening of stellar performances in celebration of the prolific and dearly-loved director choreographer, Gillian Lynne DBE will take place on Tuesday 2nd July 2019 at 7.30pm at The Gillian Lynne Theatre, Drury Lane in London.

With Joseph, which opened last night at Franklin's Jamison Theater inside The Factory at Franklin, further establishes its brand: presenting exceptional musical theater with production qualities that might rival Broadway, performed by a cast (a dreamcast, if you will) made up of actors from Nashville, New York and various and sundry points in between. The show's title role is entrusted to New York-based Jesse Michels, who oozes great charm and is fairly dripping in sex appeal which ensures the audience is riveted to his performance - but it's his gorgeous baritenor and prominent stage presence that makes certain this production of Joseph is so appealing and we daresay noteworthy.

I had the pleasure of seeing A Bronx Tale with my friend Cassy, who had NEVER seen a musical before! (I know, right?!) I invited Cassy because the 1993 movie, off which the musical is based, is her favorite. Seriously, her cat is named Calogero, after the lead character in both the movie and the play. I was excited to see this show, and especially excited to see it through the eyes of a neophyte theater goer. I was not disappointed!

It's that time of the week, theater lovers! Say what you want about Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber but at least he's consistent. Consistently borrowing from others as is evident in the most recent offering from the Paramount Theatre, 'his' musical version of the 2003 movie 'The School of Rock'. And while it has adorable kids, absolutely shredding it with their vocals and musical chops on stage, it also has utterly forgettable and repetitious songs (at least the ones actually written by Webber and lyricist Glenn Slater) and a lead who takes mugging to a whole new, annoying level.

Studio Tenn will close out its ninth season with Andrew Lloyd Webber's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, opening at the Jamison Theater in Franklin on Friday, May 17, and continuing through June 2. Jesse Michels takes on the title role, with Studio Tenn favorite Laura Matula as the Narrator.

 Broadway In Chicago is announcing tickets for CATS will go on sale on Thursday, May 16. CATS will play Broadway In Chicago's James M. Nederlander Theatre (24 W. Randolph) for a limited three-week engagement July 16 - August 4, 2019.

Redhouse will conclude its 2018 -19 Season with The All Night Strut!, conceived and originally directed and choreographed by Fran Charnas with musical arrangements by Tom Fitt, Gil Lieb and Dick Schermesser, running from May 30th - June 9th. The production will feature a partnership with CNY Jazz who will provide the musicians and musical direction along with Central New York Theater Icon, Bob Brown who will make his directorial debut with Redhouse. The All Night Strut! promises a high energy evening of memorable music and incredible singing and dancing that will have you tapping your toes long after you leave the theatre.
