Lincoln Center Theater has announced its upcoming production of Becky Nurse of Salem, a new play by Sarah Ruhl, directed by Rebecca Taichman. Becky Nurse of Salem will begin previews Thursday, October 27 and open on Thursday, November 21 at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater.

Another Tonys has come and gone! The American Theatre Wing's 75th Annual Tony Awards, hosted by Ariana DeBose, aired live from Radio City Music Hall on Sunday night. Deirdre O'Connell has won the 2022 Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play for DANA H.

The countdown to the Tony Awards has a officially begun! On June 12, the brightest stars of the 2021-22 season will shine even brighter as they gather at the iconic Radio City Music Hall to celebrate Broadway's biggest night. Just last night, Billy Crudup and Deirdre O'Connell co-hosted Vineyard Theatre's annual gala, honoring New York City Council Member Carlina Rivera and celebrating the music of the extraordinary late singer-songwriter Laura Nyro. 

Vineyard Theatre has announced that Billy Crudup (“The Morning Show,” The Vineyard’s Harry Clarke) and Deirdre O'Connell (recent Tony Nominee for Dana H.) will co-host Vineyard Theatre’s annual gala on Monday, May 16, 2022.

The winners of the 2022 New York Drama Critics' Circle Awards will be announced Thursday, May 12 at 6pm. The selections will be made immediately beforehand at the organization's 86th annual voting meeting.

Taking home top prizes were Kimberly Akimbo and Oratorio For Living Things. Special honorees this year included Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Deirdre O'Connell and Playwrights' Sidewalk Inductee, David Henry Hwang.

 The Tony Awards Administration Committee met yesterday to confirm the eligibility status of 12 Broadway productions for the 2021-2022 season.  This was the first time the Tony Awards Administration Committee met to decide the eligibility for the 75th Annual Tony Awards. The Tony Awards are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.

BroadwayWorld has just learned that the Broadway productions of Is This a Room and Dana H., which were previously set to conclude performances next week at the Lyceum Theatre, will extend for an additional two weeks. Both plays will play their final performances on November 28, 2021.

Dana H., by Obie Award winner Lucas Hnath and directed by Obie Award winner Les Waters, opened earlier this week on October 17, at Broadway's Lyceum Theatre, playing on a rotating schedule with Is This a Room. Deirdre O'Connell reprises her Obie Award-winning performance.

The 2020 Kesselring Prize for playwriting—a $25,000 award given annually to an outstanding playwright deserving of national recognition—is to be presented to Mona Mansour by The National Arts Club during a virtual ceremony on Thursday, February 25 at 6:00 PM.

The Homebound Project has announced that it will return on January 27–31 with its sixth edition. Music icon Sting and actors Paul Sparks and Eden Malyn join the previously announced team of actors, playwrights, and directors.

At this time of national trauma and unrest, The Homebound Project has decided to temporarily postpone the Sixth Edition of its online theater initiative, which was scheduled to stream online January 13–17, 2021.
