George Street Playhouse, now located at 103 College Farm Road in New Brunswick, announced today that it's retiring the popular musical Austin the Unstoppable from its New Jersey repertoire with the conclusion of the 2017-18 academic year. Austin… and the Educational Touring Theatre's other current production, New Kid, are available for booking at schools and organizations through April 2018. The characters, simply named One, Two and Three, reflect on the past, look toward the future, and try to make sense of their present. Three of New Jersey's top corporations, Bank of America, The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey, and PSEG Foundation, have once again joined forces with the New Jersey State Arts Council to support the 21st annual  Stages Festival ("Stages"). Stages will offer over 90 theatre performances and programs for children and adults free of charge or at significantly discounted rates. ???????The South Orange Performing Arts Center's Herb and Milly Iris Gallery will host a new exhibit from New Jersey artist Joe Waks featuring mixed-media paintings featuring imagery from a by-gone era that sends the mind spinning into thought-provoking commentary about today's world. Waks' " Kwalite Paintings" show, on display March 5-April 27 contains 17 artistic renderings of juxtaposed images that become social commentary. There will be an opening reception on Thursday, March 8, 6-9 p.m. Waks describes himself as a painter/bon vivant/provocateur who creates works that titillate, inspire and/or annoy both serfs and royalty alike, and his wit and irreverence shine through in his paintings. Through the month of March Centenary Stage Company will be hosting three professional Dance Company's for the annual Centenary Stage Company Dance Fest.  On Sunday, March 11 at 3PM Moe-tion Dance Theater known for their expression through movement, will kick off the annual Dance Fest. Then on Sunday, March 18 at 3PM the XY Dance Project returns with their unique style, that blends contemporary dance with the spiritual rhythms of African dance, and the grace and peace of Tai Chi. Finally, Nimbus Dance Works will close out the annual dance festival on Sunday, March 25 at 3PM with a retelling of the First Testament in a glam rock style, with music by the Brooklyn band Sky Pony.
