CYNTHIA-REEVES New England is set to present two distinct bodies of work by Catherine Farish, following her artist residencies at the Ballinglen Arts Foundation in Ballycastle, Ireland and Atelier Alain Piroir in Quebec, Canada. Ballinglen Portfolio captures the savage blue green beauty of the Irish countryside. The pathos of the poetry and music and the intriguing history of a 5000 year-old people inspired the works Farish produced. Each artwork is unique, and was created through the monoprint printing method in which inks are hand painted directly onto printing plates. When the plates and paper pass through the press, the ink is transferred from the plate to the paper, creating a unique print.

These pieces are limited edition prints created with roulage and drypoint on sirene, a new plate material for the artist. All of the works included colored chine collé and special inking techniques to produce multiple colors from one plate and a single run through a press.
