EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert is a groundbreaking new documentary directed by Baz Luhrmann, serving as a spiritual follow-up to his 2022 biopic *Elvis*. Released in theaters in early 2026 (with an exclusive IMAX run starting February 20 and wider release on February 27), the film draws from a treasure trove of previously unseen and restored footage—discovered in Warner Bros. vaults in a Kansas salt mine—originally shot for 1970s concert films like *Elvis: That’s the Way It Is* and *Elvis on Tour*. Blending rare performance clips from Elvis Presley’s iconic Las Vegas residencies and tours with candid interview excerpts where the King narrates his own life story, the project transcends traditional concert films or documentaries. Luhrmann crafts an immersive cinematic experience that captures Elvis at the height of his electrifying showmanship, highlighting his charisma, vocal power, and magnetic stage presence in stunning detail.
What makes **EPiC** truly special is its ability to humanize the legend while reigniting the joy and vitality in Elvis’s legacy. Viewers are transported back to the peak of his 1969-1970s era, witnessing intimate rehearsal moments—like Elvis in oversized purple shades, brimming with enthusiasm—and explosive live performances that feel fresh and immediate thanks to meticulous restoration. Critics have praised it for restoring some much-needed positivity to Presley’s image, countering stereotypes with evidence of his genuine passion for music and connection with audiences. Described as “something new in the Elvis canon,” the film offers deeper revelations into his humanity and inner life, making it a must-see for fans and a powerful reminder of why the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll remains an enduring cultural force nearly five decades after his passing.
