Eagle Media Corp Receives R. John Hugh Award

Eagle Media Corp was honored with Florida Motion Picture & Television Association Metro Orlando Chapter's R. John Hugh Award, Monday, November 21st. Receiving the award were EMC founders Thomas P. Mitchell, Sr., President and Linda K. Nesmith, Senior Vice President/COO.

Founded in 1985, the R. John Hugh Award is bestowed annually to a company or individual who has made a significant difference in the film and entertainment industry in Central Florida. The award is a tribute to Florida's renowned director, producer and writer who served as President and founder of the "Florida Motion Picture and Producers Association" in 1966. His vision was to make Florida the movie capital of the world by creating a local climate that was production friendly. He died Dec 16th, 1985 in Orlando at the age of 62. Hugh directed, The Meal, Fall Girl, The Touch of Flesh and produced Johnny Tiger.

Immediate Past State President and Metro Orlando Chapter Secretary, Dr. Leslie Bartlett, presented the coveted award during the chapter meeting. Previous recipients include Disney/MGM Production Operation, Universal Studios Florida, Centuries 3 Universal Studios, The Motion Picture Company INC, Panavision Florida, Extreme Stunt and Driving Team and last year's recipient, In Focus Magazine.

"This year's recipient not only deserves this award but has gone above and beyond the call of duty as a motivating part of the film and entertainment industries in Florida," stated Dr. Bartlett. "The integrity, strength and leadership from Eagle Media Corp is appreciated by FMPTA."

Mitchell, an award winning Director and Photographer, serves as FMPTA State President and Metro Orlando Chapter President. Under his tenure, FMPTA membership has increased 500% and is growing rapidly. Mitchell also serves on the Film Florida Board of Directors, is Co-Chair Associations Council and on its Legislative Committee.

"While Eagle Media Corp is honored to receive this award, the successes of the last year in film and entertainment are due to all the men and women working daily to keep work in and return work to Central Florida," stated Nesmith. "Every voice is critical to be heard so our Legislature and production companies know Central Florida is production ready."

Nesmith, an award winning Producer, serves as FMPTA State Treasurer and Metro Orlando Chapter Treasurer and most recently produced the renowned 21st
and 22nd Annual Crystal Reel Awards.
