Texas Performing Arts Welcomes DELFOS DANZA CONTEMPORANEA 9/23
By: Gabrielle Sierra Sep. 02, 2010
Texas Performing Arts' 2010-2011 Season is proud to highlight Mexico's 2010 Bicentennial and Centennial celebrations with performances that emphasize the richness and diversity of Mexican performing arts. Widely regarded as Mexico's premier contemporary dance company from Mazatlán, Delfos Danza Contemporánea performs at Bass Concert Hall on Thursday, September 23 at 8PM.
Founded by Mexican choreographers Víctor Manuel Ruiz and Claudia Lavista, Delfos Danza Contemporánea creates and presents works of contemporary dance while developing a dance space that fosters education, exchange, and communication. This year, founding member and current dancer/choreographer Omar Carrum was awarded a prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship. Delfos will perform their piece Cuando los Disfraces se Cuelgan (When the Disguises are Hung Up), an interesting choreographic search that integrates various languages such as dance, video, computer animation, and music. The theme is the unveiling of our interior world, continuously covered by the many costumes or disguises of daily life.Campus & Community Engagement Event:
Join us for a post-performance talkback in the hall with members of Delfos Danza Contemporánea immediately following the performance.
