Moulin Rouge! will resume performances at Broadway's Al Hirschfeld Theatre on September 24. The Tony-nominated musical began previews on June 28, 2019 and officially opened on July 25 of that year. The Alex Timber-helmed show garnered 14 Tony nominations.
Moulin Rouge! stars set to return to the show include Aaron Tveit in the role of Christian, Danny Burstein as Harold Zidler, Sahr Ngaujah as Toulouse-Lautrec, Ricky Rojas as Santiago, Robyn Hurder as Nini and Tam Mutu as the Duke of Monroth. Headliner Karen Olivo has announced she will not return to the role of Satine.
Ashley Loren is still listed as "Satine Alternate" in the press release, so I assume they are looking to bring in someone with a higher profile to replace Olivo. I wonder who that will be. To be honest, Satine is kind of a thankless part in this adaptation.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."
-John Guare, Landscape of the Body
Says tix will be available through seatgeek, so I guess they’ve worked all that stuff out. Hopefully that means we’ll get a Hadestown announcement soon.
It should be noted that they will be returning on a limited schedule of just 5 or 6 shows a week.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
I have to imagine that whoever replaces Olivo will be a person of color. The optics of replacing an actor of color with a white actor would not be good.
I'm most curious about the SeatGeek rollout. I see no interactive seat maps with seat numbers on there, and, unless they've created them for Broadway, I can see that being a significant problem with many regular theatregoers. I suppose all will be answered soon.
How exciting. Looks like they got rid of Tuesday night and Thursday afternoon performances. I hope that changes, as the Thursday was popular because no other show were doing matinees that particular day.

Didn't Phantom have a Thursday matinee?
"I hope your Fanny is bigger than my Peter."

I'm going to guess and say that the Production contract minimum will not change, and no one's salary will be lowered (that would just be bad for morale and cause more problems), but that all actors who are new to shows with less than an 8 show a week schedule will have less negotiating power, and that salaries will be on average be closer to the minimum than usual.
Does anyone remember how much the first few rows of the front mezz and front orchestra (not the can can seating) were running for before the shutdown happened? Just trying to get a ballpark handle on how much tickets may be before the presale starts Monday, and I'm completely blanking.

Yes, I had front row mezz for late March 2020 and paid $249 plus fees. I remember them being between $199=299.
I have no idea what they will do with ticket prices now but considering how well other shows are selling for the few first months, I doubt it will be much lower.
