whats a plot/idea do you want to see on the stage? Dec 20
2020, 09:30:31 PM
I can't wait to see what ideas sprout out of this pandemic. Perhaps the next theatrical masterpiece is being written right now and we don't even know it.

What show would you have rushed during the great blizzard of 2020 Dec 16
2020, 08:59:34 PM
In a non-COVID world, if theaters were somehow still open in spite of this blizzard, I'd try my luck at a hot ticket like Music Man or Hamilton.
I'm not one to rush though. I would probably get my hands on a last-minute TKTS or StubHub deal.

Announced today. Looks like those seemingly annual Illusionists engagements might have some competition in the future.

Ann Reinking Has Passed Away Dec 15
2020, 04:59:40 AM
The name on everybody's lips right now is REINKING.
RIP to yet another theatre legend gone too soon in this terrible year. Hopefully more audiences get to witness her iconic, Fosse-esque, Tony-winning Chicago choreo if it reopens.

It was not.

Jagged Little Pill concert Dec 13
2020, 09:31:27 PM So glad they did “Uninvited” with the choreo. I thought “Predator” followed by “You Oughta Know” followed by “Uninvited” was one of the best extended sequences currently on B’way before the shutdown. They must have been so glad to be “back,” if only for one night. Producers seem pretty confident right now JLP will return.
Wait until the dust settles...

Netflix's THE PROM official thread/reviews/reactions Dec 12
2020, 12:50:37 AM The other Jordan also has lots to say but won’t share all his thoughts now. I was pleasantly surprised, just like when I first saw it on stage. I had my hesitations going in and for the first couple scenes or so, but I was full on smiling by “Tonight Belongs to You” and that grin did not go away for the rest of the film.
The new changes/scenes were mostly good, with a couple of clunkers (same with the flashbacks). This one is going in your “good” pile, Murph. Congrats to you and to all

Netflix's THE PROM official thread/reviews/reactions Dec 11

Exactly 16 months after closing in NYC, the Netflix release date of The Prom has finally arrived- your comments and reactions would be appreciated, first-time viewers.
I spoke with Meg last night but all she said re this movie was something along the lines of "expect a different experience" from the stage version. As if we all didn't know that already.

NBC Broadway Special? Dec 10
2020, 10:01:45 PM Goodnight NYC. Tonight wasn’t my favorite, but at least it was nice to see all these shows reuniting and representing one of the hardest hit industries of the pandemic. Like it or not, live theatre WILL be back someday, and it will be much more ecstatic than tonight's rather solemn presentation. Jake Gyllenhaal: “...it will be stronger than ever.” Aaron Tveit: “...it’s gonna be a real party that night.”
Remember folks... it’s Only Intermission.

NBC Broadway Special? Dec 10
2020, 09:24:24 PM A lot of this has been underwhelming and low key. It’s almost as if B’way is really dead and the whole country won’t even mourn them.
I’ve heard that “Diana”‘s Netflix premiere might be late in January... crappy preview so far. Hoping the material is stronger and suits Jeanna de Waal’s powerful voice even better.

NBC Broadway Special? Dec 10
2020, 08:58:19 PM LAUREN PATTEN. That was pretty good, much better out of context.

NBC will present THE GRINCH musical this December starring Morrison Dec 9
2020, 10:45:29 PM
I had this taped on my DVR, and I just finished. I haven't seen this live and it's been a while since I last heard the World Premiere Cast Recording.
"Who Likes Christmas?" was a solid opener as expected, although I thought some of the Whos looked like Oompa-Loompas or citizens of LazyTown with those costumes.
I like when Mel Marvin's original score goes back and forth in a couple of songs between the vibrancy/tonality of the Whos an

Glenn Close gives a 'Sunset Boulevard' movie update Dec 8

CATSNYrevival said: "They should have just filmed the last revival. The b-roll looked pretty stunning and cinematic."
It wasn’t just the beautiful B-roll... I saw that revival live. Close was magnificent, nailing her big numbers (“stunning and cinematic” as ever) and iconic lines, and getting a well-deserved standing-O after “As If We Never Said Goodbye” that didn’t seem to end for some time. For a few hours, sh

Faucci Says By Beginning of April, Everyone Could Get Vaccine Dec 8

Apologies... I forgot he wasn’t on board for this. Jeffrey Seller, Oskar Eustis, Sander Jacobs, and Jill Furman are leading the charge. Brain fart.

Faucci Says By Beginning of April, Everyone Could Get Vaccine Dec 8
2020, 02:34:12 PM
If Kevin McCollum and the producing team of Hamilton are looking for a poetic reopening, I think it would still be too risky on July 4. Instead, I imagine it would be much more possible to swing open the Rodgers doors again on September 17- Constitution Day. After all, Alexander Hamilton is known for writing the bulk of the Federalist Papers, which supported the document.
Other shows would subsequently follow suit.

THE PROM soundtrack Dec 4
2020, 03:30:04 PM
Onto my soundtrack thoughts now from my first listen:
New orchestrations are really good. The film soundtrack has more musical balance than the OBCR. Corden slips in and out of his American accent repeatedly... he sounds no better than “okay,” and his casting seems like a misfire. JUSTICE FOR BROOKS! I will never forget the show tried to rhyme “lesbian” with “thespian.” Reminds me of when Jason Robert Brown rhymed “Beyoncé&
