Round House Theatre Presents I LOVE TO EAT, Now thru 11/4

Round House Theatre continues its 2012/13 season with the regional premiere of I Love to Eat by James Still, which runs tonight, October 17 thru November 4. Leon Major directs this look at the delightfully zesty life of renowned chef James Beard. Nick Olcott portrays the culinary maestro described as "the face and belly of American gastronomy." Opening night is Monday, October 22, 2012.

Olney Theatre Center's National Players Announce Lineup for Tour 65

Martin Platt, Artistic Director of Olney Theatre Center, and Jason King Jones, Director of National Players, have announced the titles for the 65th anniversary tour of National Players. For the first time this century National Players will tour with three productions, Shakespeare's Macbeth and Comedy of Errors, and Homer's Odyssey.

Conductor Ken Lam of the newly-formed Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestras and the Enchantment Theatre present Wizards & Wands: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Apprentice at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall on November 3 at 11 a.m. Unlocking key scientific concepts, discover the natural versus supernatural and link science, music and magic. Musical delights include John Williams' award-winning music from the Harry Potter films, Paul Dukas' spellbinding Sorcerer's Apprentice, Stravinsky's Firebird and Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. As the last two pandas on earth, Gwo Gwo and Marion intrinsically know their task is to repopulate their species, but when mating season rolls around, they encounter a small hitch: Chester the crocodile has got his eyes on Gwo Gwo, who-despite all his practicing-can't seem to get a hang of baby-panda creation and finds himself increasingly distracted by that sly and charming croc.

Strand Theater Company welcomes Baltimore playwright, performer and theater professor Susan McCully with her three-woman show Inexcusable Fantasies, exploring, often comically, her secret and not-so-secret obsessions with Martha Stewart, Harley Davidson, and Grandma's Oil of Olay. The production is a Baltimore premiere and the second offering of the Strand 2012-13 Season, under the leadership of Artistic Director Rain Pryor. It runs November 1-17.
Iron Crow Theatre Premieres BAD PANDA, 10/13-27

They're the last two pandas on Earth. It's mating season. One of them falls in love with a crocodile, who is gay. And then the baby comes. In this sweet celebration of non-traditional families, Gwo Gwo the panda must balance his new found desire for Chester the crocodile with his obligations to his prescribed panda mate, Marion. The animals eat, mate, splash around in identity politics, meditate on their impending extinction, and love one another as only families can. Iron Crow will produce the world premiere of this new play by Megan Gogerty.
Beth Hylton Signs With Everyman Theatre's Acting Company

Everyman Theatre has announced the addition of Beth Hylton to its esteemed Resident Acting Company. Ms. Hylton joins ten other noted actors in Everyman's Resident Acting Company. Everyman Theatre draws on its Resident Company of professional actors when casting for productions each season. 'Arturo Ui" is Adolf Hitler and, to Bertolt Brecht, that is really the point. His satirical drama, "The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui" is a thinly veiled chronicle of the rise of Hitler and his inner-circle cohorts (Rohm, Goring and Goebbels) to power in Nazi Germany. Academic Theatre students at the Community College of Baltimore County, Essex will perform this play at 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, Oct. 25-27, 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29 and 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30 in the B Building Theatre at CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Blvd. in Rosedale.
