Vagabond Players Stage NEXT TO NORMAL, 10/19-11/25

The Vagabond Players will present the Baltimore City premiere of Next to Normal, on October 19, running weekends through November 25. This Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning musical with book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey and music by Tom Kitt took Broadway in a whole new direction in 2009.
Imagination Stage Presents MICE ON THE MOVE, Now thru 11/11

Starting today, October 6, Imagination Stage brings back its popular show for the very young:Mouse on the Move. This show, called "ridiculously adorable" by Our Kids, had its world premiere production in January 2012 at Imagination Stage, making it the theatre's 35th commissioned new work for children in Imagination Stage's 33 year history.

Single Carrot Theatre's sixth season opens with Drunk Enough to Say I Love You? by Caryl Churchill. The show will perform on MICA's campus from October 5th - October 21st at Falvey Hall in the Brown Center (1301 W. Mount Royal Ave Baltimore MD 21217) and at the new auditorium in Studio Center (113 W. North Ave Baltimore MD 21201). Opening night on October 5th will be held at MICA's Falvey Hall with show time at 8:00pm.
Everyman Theatre Wins Downtown Baltimore Award

Everyman Theatre will be the recipient of the prestigious "Downtown Baltimore Award" from the Downtown Partnership of Baltimore. The award will be presented to the theatre company on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at the Downtown Partnership of Baltimore's 2012 Annual Meeting. The Annual Meeting will take place from 5:30 to 8:00 PM and Hopkins Plaza.
BSO Launches Passport Offering Unlimited Concerts to Patrons Age 21-40

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) announces BSO Passport, a new discounted ticket program for young professionals. From October 15-November 15, patrons age 21-40 can pay $75 to purchase a BSO Passport, good for admission to unlimited* concerts for the entire 2012-13 season at both the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore, Md. and The Music Center at Strathmore in North Bethesda, Md. BSO Passports can be purchased exclusively at BSOmusic.org/Passport. Passport users must present their Passport card and a photo ID to enter all selected concerts throughout the entire season.

The Baltimore Playwrights Festival announces the results of its Season XXXI judged competition for new works. The Carol Weinberg Award for Best Script, along with a $250 cash award, went to Rich Espey for his play 'Following Sarah'. The $100 Second Place award was won by Kevin Kostic for 'Passport,' and the $50 Third Place award went to Mark Scharf for 'Hired Gun.' Honorable Mentions went to: "Shana Unsettled" by Ronda Cooperstein, "Lethal Injection" by Michael Reimann, "The Last Shall Be First" by Percy Thomas, and "The Things We Do - An Evening of One-Acts", featuring "Protest" by Adam Meyer, "A Good Brain is Hard to Find" by Rebecca Wyrick, and "Replay" by Mark Scharf.

Guest conductor Cornelius Meister returns thanks to popular demand to lead the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) in a program of Mozart, Brahms and Strauss on Friday, October 26, 2012 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, October 28 at 3 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall and Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 8 p.m. at the Music Center at Strathmore. The concert includes Brahms' final work for orchestra, his Double Concerto for Violin and Cello, featuring BSO Concertmaster Jonathan Carney and Principal Cellist Dariusz Skoraczewski. The concert also includes one of Mozart's great symphonies, No. 35, the "Haffner" and Strauss' masterful tone poem Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks.

Popular guest conductor Juanjo Mena will lead the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony on Friday, October 19 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, October 21 at 3 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, and Saturday, October 20 at 8 p.m. at the Music Center at Strathmore. Acclaimed Italian pianist Benedetto Lupo makes his BSO debut performing Bartok's Piano Concerto No. 3. Also on the program are selections from Dvorak's Slavonic Dances.
